I'm an old hard boot who isn't bothered by too much, or at least not much that I let anyone know. I read a lot of stories and it isn't often one pulls at my discrepant heart strings. But you've certainly pulled a few. Thanks for sharing. And congratulations on your contest win!

Oh, Aussie, that is so sad. It says family fiction, but with the picture and your story, I'm thinking it's true? your family? At any rate,
congratulations on winning the contest. You chose the 100 words well.
My best to you!
Katharine

Hello Katherine, No, not my family. They are all upstairs looking down and waiting for me. It was fiction. I have been on vacation, came home to find I had won the contest, Whoopee! Thanks for reading my friend. K xx

It was only an overnight stay to see extended family. That was super. But, I have learnt a lesson; my manual wheelchair is hard work. I'm in a power chair at home. K xx

It means I have written 1000 works on FS. Maybe just poems because I have been writing on the site for 13 years! Hugs XX

Hi Kay,
This is a wonderful poem of faith and patriotism. It shows that we do see our families again when we die. They are our welcoming party.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Congrats on winning the contest.
Have a great day.
Joan

Thank you for sharing this contest entry with us. I enjoyed reading and could feel the emotion of the situation. Good luck with the contest.

Hello You. Thanks for reading. We all have to leave some time and they are not dead, merely sleeping and waiting for us. I've got my ticket - 88 I was told by a palm reader many years ago. Nothing to be afraid of, I had an NDE when I died on the OT. I was three months in hospital. He didn't want me, so I was sent back! You will have to put up with me a while longer! K xx

This is a great story that gives me chills. The spirit does speak, and the there are different dimmensons, a way to find them is to go on to where they are now, and leave this world behind.

Spirit doesn't communicate like we do. Simply put, it's head-to-head. I had an NDE and spoke to my Father, no spoken word because I was out of body. Look up on Google The Silver Cord. Thanks, K xx

This is a touching and comforting story. It is a consoling thought knowing our loved ones will be lovingly waiting to guide us to our eternal home. Your flash fiction story is well written and has a satisfying ending. Best wishes in the contest.

Hi Kace, so good to see you my wonder friend...
this happens more than you think sweetie pie...

when my dad was passing...he put his arms in the air
and called to Mary Lou...I thought he was calling to
and old girlfriend...didn't want to say nothing to my mom...
but he did it again...so one day I just kind of slowly asked
her if she knew a Mary Lou...she said yea...it's your fathers
mother...he was our step father...and we always knew her as granny...
but she was calling him home...a couple days later he passed...

I love your story told...memories for me...sooo very well written
you...picture perfect...good luck in the contest...love much...

An excellent entry for the 100 Word Flash Fiction contest. This was bittersweet and lovely. Don't we all hope that one day we will go home in the exact same way, guided by the loved ones who went before us. Wishing you good luck in the contest.

Hi, Marilyn. Thanks so much for reading and yes, we will go home the same way. I had an NDE and met my family briefly. I was critically injured and lost my leg in a bike accident. Many moons ago. Love, K.
