Firstly, congrats, Jesse, on this your 200th milestone!
And what a wonderful tribute to David! It's not the end because you still hold in your heart the love you have for him, always to linger. Sometimes, for whatever reason, we need the space to savour those special memories rather than risk further pain. That line: "I haven't lost. Only love to gain" is a precious summation in this moving and heartfelt free verse. Thanks for sharing your honesty and emotion, Jesse. Take care Debbie

Wow, Debbie. I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the six stars and insightful review. I searched my heart for what to say, and all I can say is thanks so much.
A precious summation is a lovely way to describe my poem.
Take care,
Jesse

I like it. I realised on the second reading you started a rhyme scheme half way through, that's interesting. My guess is to separate the first half from the second. Live/Death. Whilst the stanza join them; if I am right you have been very cleaver. If I am wrong... I really like this work and would give it a 6 if I had any left.

Ciao!,
First off, my condolences for your loss.
When someone we loved, and cared for dies the sense of loss and of emptiness is overwhelming.
In time the memories you created with David over the years will fill the void and the pain will be less. It's a process that requires time.
I wish you peaceful times soon.

That is fantastic! Can feel the emotion of such a moment. To love and lose is difficult and I like the way you softened it. I was very touched by this.
Thank you for sharing,
Carla

Thanks, Carla, for the six stars and encouraging review. I am glad this poem touched you. Writing about a loss helps soften the blow of losing him.
Take care to get to know someone before you dive right in.
Enjoy the upcoming week.

You have many special memories which are forever. I am sure you must be very sad and in considerable pain, but the poem beautifully expresses a positive outlook, and optimism for both of you as you move on. Best wishes to you, Jesse. You are strong, and an overcomer.

Thank you for your encouragement, Wendy.
I am strong and I will survive this heartbreak like the ones that came before.
Thanks for your good wishes.
You are a good friend.

Sometimes the most unselfish act of loving someone, is to hold them with an open hand.
You two grew from caregiver/client to close friends and then incredibly love expanded beyond all previous notion!
I am certain your heart is aching. Dwell, if you can, on the memories of happiness.
May you both look back with a smile and forward to new love!

Let's say you are never too old to learn.
I see David leaving as a springboard to new horizons and vistas where new love is bountiful.
After I get over the heartbreak, I will look back at our time together with fond memories.
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement.

Thank YOU for sharing, Jesse. But I think I'm somewhat lost now. I'd always thought David was your friend and that you had a new girlfriend now.
Well, none of my business. Whatever the situation is, I do hope you are doing well.
Sending you a virtual six. This poem is beautifully written. x

Thanks for the wonderful review.
If you want to know more about David and me look up in my portfolio for the post before The Universal Shrug. I forget what it was called.
Thanks for the virtual six.
I appreciate your kind words.

Hi Jesse, if we could choose One moment in time that we freeze forevermore, I wonder what moment would it be? Would it be when we met our true love, would it be that first intimate moment, or would it be the moment just before our beloved departs. It so hard to choose or know. I sorry that David has moved on. This must be a very difficult time for you. However, you have expressed your feelings most eloquently in this poem.
Your poem reads and flows well, and I especially liked:
It will be savored forever
A keepsake to hold on one's sleeve
(And that keepsake will always rest within your heart)
Lovely photo choice. I think it a sunset vs. sunrise. Sunset, the end of a day, but a new day, with new opportunities, awaits. Well done.
Be well. Hang in there. Maybe, one day, David will return?

Thanks, Margaret, for the six stars and marvelous review. You hit on all of the high points as well as encourage me to hang in there.
What better review is there than that?
Talking about how the poem spoke to you makes me feel wonderful inside.
Thanks for your kind words.
Enjoy the upcoming week.

Jesse, it's impossible to write a review for such a moment. The work deserves 6 stars (which I'm unfortunately out of), but the pain in your poem does not need a rating. It is universal. It is not something that can, or should, be compared by a rank or review. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going through. But know that this work spoke volumes and brought beauty in his memory. Much love to you, Jesse, in this time of healing.

Thanks, RJ, for your encouraging and insightful review. Trying to capture a moment in time is extremely hard to do.
If my poem somehow has done this, I am very pleased. Thank you for sending me your love in my time of healing.
