Nightshift does most of it, but it's really on everyone to help out when we can and if needed. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

I'm not sure how to feel about this poem, except to say it's fasinating. Wanderers? Does that mean food close to its expiration date? Marked down? This is a great poem, i loved it. :)

It is referring to the stuff in the back and getting it up to the front so it doesn't expire. Or maybe something is put in the wrong place and push back somewhere. If it's close to the expiration date, or just over the date, we can mark it down. Most things are good past the expiration date for a little bit. We have our time window for when we can't mark it down but if we catch it early enough you can benefit. Thanks for the great review. :)

There have been many empty aisles during the Spring revival on the shelves. It's funny seeing the changes: Christmas disappears, and bikinis come out. What a wonderfully written poem. I wish I had a six for you. Best of luck with your writing!
Have a great day, and God bless.

Welcome back, Megan. The term 'wanderers' made me think of the times I find a product on a shelf where it doesn't belong. Sometimes, even I am guilty of deciding I don't want an item and set it down anywhere I find room on another shelf. Shame on me.
I like the formatting of this as well as the content.

Thanks for the great review. And those wanderers can also be the ones that don't belong where they are. We have all done that so don't feel bad. The only time you shouldn't do it is when it's refrigerated or frozen. We don't want the items to go bad. Thanks for the great review and it's good to be back :)

I enjoy searching for the "wanderers" -- anything that will save a dollar these days is helpful. I see grocery workers hard at work, rotating stock, checking expiration dates, and marking down meat that has one more "sell by" day left...

I've planned many a meal with "almost brand new" stock!

I wonder if people even notice all of this is being done?

There should be an appreciation day for you all!

I'm sure many don't notice it being done. I really never thought about it until I started doing it. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

Smart store managers should highlight the many important jobs that make our shopping safer, more convenient, and with savings!

An interesting poem. Never thought of sticking the shelves quite like you have described. The personification of the lost stock is amazing.

Well done.

Blessings

Since I also spent 43 years in the grocery business, I found this interesting. There's almost a surreal, dream like quality to the working of the shelves here. It's like there are these spirits that fill the shelves when we are not looking, looking out for the hungry and the lost, instead of working on the orders of the store manager. Over the years I have gotten a lot of satisfaction from it. It is an often overlooked, but essential part of so many lives. Holidays were the brightest times for me. I really enjoyed being a part of so many family gatherings by helping put together those holiday meals. estory

It's almost therapeutic. And when you get a full cart full of stuff you can actually see something being done. Thanks for the great review and wonderful thoughts :)

This is an imaginative poem. I would never have thought of calling items which get mis-laid or pushed behind others 'wanderers' who 'don't deserve to die.' That's unusual personification. The little boy photo is a cute way to point out that most of us don't know how much work goes into stocking grocery shelves. Nice share.

-Nice image and presentation, Meghan.
-Good to see you on FS; hope you are doing well.
-Your note is appreciated.
-It looks like a huge grocery story, and
you do a good job describing what it is like.
-I like the term "wanderers" and how you
personify these items that are still useful and
are offered at a cheaper price.
-It sounds like you take great care with your store,
and care about what your products.
-Thanks for sharing about it.
