I love this poem. It reminds me of reading books to my daughter when she was young and sitting in bed together. Its so important to create those memories. The picture you chose was perfect too :)

This is very nicely done, Joan. You have chosen a simple structure and rhythm to mirror the simple joy of reading a bedtime story. 'The best way too end a day...' Lovely.

Hi Joan,
My wife always read Bible stories to our youngest son at bedtime. Then, she'd say prayers with him, and he slept through the night. Whenever I laid down with him and started to read a story, I'd fall asleep in no time! In other words, I was no good at the job. But that's where a firm relationship is made.
It's true that the love of reading is the first step towards writing. When I was a little kid, I knew all the words on each page by heart because my mother, Auntie Viola, and grandmother Bartlett read to me.
Can I offer a couple of suggestions?
"In the soothing tone
of Mother's
Voice is shone" ... (I suggest,
Where the soothing sound
of Mother's voice
is found)
and,
"That both she
And you
Love to read" ... (I suggest,
She planted the seed
that gave me
the love to read)
I hope this helps a bit.
Hugs,
Kimbob

There is a light feel and flow to your words. Your poem fits the picture perfectly. Your words are soothing and remind the reader of a more gentle time, being read to and surrounded by stuffed toys.

Lovely poem inspired by the picture. Reading to your friend or parent is a magical thing. So many places to see and people or animals to meet... great entry for the picture this club.

I enjoyed this sweet little write. It brings back so many good memories of when I was a little girl and my Mom would read stories to me before bedtime. It's one of my favorite childhood memories! You are so right... the best way to end a day is with that special friend (Mom) and stories!

Perfectly describes the Picture of reading unfortunately from days gone by. Now days both parents and children have their own worlds on line. Enjoyed the poetry and matches that photo very well. Thanks for Sharing your Thoughts in Poetic form.

Thanks, QC, for the nice review.
I read to my children. I am an avid reader and wanted them to be.
It took my daughter a much longer time to become a reader than my son.

This is a beautifully written poem for the club entry. Very nicely done. Great interpretation of the painting. It's so nice to see so many different interpretations from the same picture.
