When it comes to writing an etheree, you possess the Talent, lock and key! I enjoyed this very much. In my life, it was a pet bird, Peter, that I taught to talk and play with me. Amazing how these little gifts of God come to mean so much to our lives.

Lovely moments of purring, love, safety, fun times with friends, and making sandcastles are displayed in your post. Love the image of your beautiful kitty.

Since I also have a cat, this beautiful etheree makes me smile -- especially as I think back to the ones I was privileged to enjoy having over many decades. I was only four when my first memory of one began. Thank you for prompting this nostalgic trip back in time revisiting all my fur babies.

You're so welcome - thank you very much! :) I have a photo somewhere of me holding Snowy when I was three. I'm holding him under his arms and his body is dangling in front of me with his back paws just brushing the ground. We're the same height. :)

I presently have a white cat named Minnie. Love your second verse about your cat and how he would sleep in your doll's pram. There is a feeling of comfort and happiness in your words. Your poem has a light feel and flow to it that takes the reader to your childhood. Best wishes for the contest.

Thank you so much! I was lucky to have been a child in this time and place. 1970s Australia was a haven. :)

Thanks again, Lea! I wish this was a picture of my Snowy, but it's one I found online that looks like him. :)

This is a lovely story of childhood memories. And you've fit it so well with the poetry form. I like all the sensory descriptions of the first half. And, as I am a cat person, I can totally relate to the second half! Thanks for sharing. Julie

Thanks so much, Julie! :) He was such a beautiful cat and he lived a very interesting life. I should tell some of his anecdotes later.
