What a great reminder that it must be a determined choice to look outward and upward! Caves are great...we just can't allow ourselves to hibernate there forever!

Being alone and enjoying it is a gift benefitting our well-being.
Your posting is a reminder that it is important to stay in touch with our feelings and that happens a lot when we have the chance to spend some private time doing a bit of deep thinking.
Your last thought written here is especially meaningful: Commune with the Creator.

Comment from Gloria ....
This is an interesting piece of art and you have written well in response to what it inspired within you.
The cave's mouth is like a doorway leading into infinity which gives cause to consider the Creator.
Very well done, Joan. :)

I like this so much I will offer a possible, but unnecessary change; the last two words in the second stanz, mabe clearing minds ... ? No matter, it's incredible as us. I fell in at once. Bravo!

Hi Kingsrook,
Thanks for the review. I am honored by the six star rating.
I will check out those last two words in stanza two.

-A good picture to write about and
a good presentation, Joan.
-You have written a good poem for it.
-A good opening verse about the
nature of a "protective cave."
-The sound of water clears your mind,
and that allows you to experience
new thoughts and feelings "to
commune to the Creator."
-Well done; thanks for sharing.

I can relate to your words. Looking out at the sea brings me close to our Creator. I like the feelings and images that come forth in your words. Your free verse form fits the picture perfectly. There is also a light feel and flow to your words, excellent free verse form.

I love the mood this piece creates... it evokes a sense of peacefulness while the image helps the reader place himself/herself within each line, experiencing what you are actually describing.

Nothing like time alone, as you've said in your words 'lets you see infinity'
Perfect choice of picture. Really tells a story of complete relaxation.
I would have awarded you six stars, but mine are all used at the moment. I'm of now to have my time alone in the garden All the best

Comment from Julie Helms
This poem conveys a sense of calmness and a lilting beauty. I found your line "lets you see infinity" interesting. As if from the cave you are given a telescopic view into the universe. That, along with climbing mountains to commune with God definitely lend itself to a deep spiritual perspective.
Thanks for sharing! Julie
