great poem about addiction love these lines

but once became more than twice
Now he's my master
pills and jabs keep me floating
will I ever find my feet?

Addiction is a horrible state for anyone to have to deal with. Its victims are brought down and sometimes cannot recover. I am glad you are bringing attention to this debilitating topic.

Also, congratulations on reaching such an important milestone with Post Number 300!

Yes Apart from their lives being wasted,it is hard to see the parent's heartbreak. They suffer from a sense of failure and guilt.

You have chosen a sad topic for your Choka, but your carefully chosen words pull us down that alley into the trap of addiction. This is powerful in its honesty and clarity. Well done!

Hi Sanku, doesn't take much to follow
that certain someone...somewhere...to
get talked into something you never thought
was going to happen...
and you become a slave to that person...

the only way to get back on your feet...is to find a
reason to live again...
love your poem my sweet friend...picture perfect...
very well written...love you...Linda xxoo

I know ,it is a matter of seconds and you make a wrong decision. I have found it very hard to console the parents who struggle with guilt ..

I have an alcoholic son...I tried to
talk him out of drinking...we ended up not talking for a long time...I called AA...the guy told me I couldn't stop him...he had to do it himself...
and if he did it for me...he would resent me...he said he has to find his own way...something to lie for...I could put a roof over his head...feed him...but don't give him any money...we are talking now...he lives one block over...and he goes to work everyday...sigh...

I am very sorry to hear that .Parents' pain to see the child like this is terrible.
My father was an alcoholic. Seeing him my brother used to say that he would never be like his father .But he too fell a victim .And died at the age of fifty. He was a brilliant Orthopedic Surgeon. He had a beautiful wife and two beautiful daughters.WASn't that incentive for him to get better? I have tormented myself thinking about all this...

I'm so sorry Sanku...my sons father...
who I divorced...is the one who got him into it...Michael lived with me until he was 18...he never smoked or drink...he went to live with his father...who took him to bars...so he picked up his fathers bad habits...
he had a great job working for UPS...his father told him to come and work by him...construction...and we live in Illinois...so they could only work 6 or 7 months out of the year...
now my son can hardly walk from lifting heavy bags of cement up latter's...he is no longer working in
construction...but it took a big toll on
    his body...his life...
I'm so sorry about your brother and your father sweet girl...God Bless...
    love you..xxoo

Congrats on Milestone 300! This is so good...

The art, the grey and black, you grabbed me from line one...

"I followed him like a lamb" reflects the submission to addiction perfectly.

Your final line says it all.

Woe to the many who never do find their feet!

Great write.

Your poem speaks to me of addiction. I am so sorry for those who are afflicted. Because I know that it may be choice to start. But somewhere along the line, choices taken. And there is no choice anymore. All your morals go out the window. Most of who you are goes out the window. I hope and pray for recovery for all those afflicted.
Having said that, your poem obviously struck a nerve with me, a nerve of familiarity of people I've known it's a powerful right and a very well done one but had another six. I'd give it to you well done a good picture too... Best of luck to you I hope you have a wonderful evening!

Congrats on your milestone. Your choka "Enslaved" post is both powerful and poignant. The sentiments of your verse perfectly reflect the rather haunted/hunted expression of one who is under someone's control and is kept sedated to avoid the possibility of that hold being broken. An indictment on our world that so many are in this invidious situation. Debbie

First, congratulations on your Milestone Post. As you know, there are many kinds of additions in addition to drugs. All addictions pull you in and take over your existence, causing you to malfunction until your next fix. Seniors, beware. You become addicted also, to medications. Don't judge.

There are many forms of enslavement, one is imposed by government, or employment, or indeed, one that is hard to be freed from and that's ill health that requires medication, but the worst is drug, alcohol or indeed, love addiction, which really is the best, and it's a healthy self imposed addiction, beautifully written, Santha, well done, blessings Roy
