WOW-WOW-WOW this is GREAT writing! LOVED every minute of it!!

The musical rhythm of it is hypnotizing and the picture is perfect. I admire this kind of writing so much ( can't do it) but love it! :)

Well done and congratulations on the awards. Well deserved for sure. :)

-Good artwork and presentation, Debi.
-This is a very different poem for you
and it worked very well.
-It is a good one for Halloween and
the critters and goblins that will soon appear.
-I like the onomatopoeia in between each verse.
-Effective imagery and rhyme shows your
feelings about
"teensy-tinsy creatures that can scamper on all fours."
-As you say, "no pied piper, who's the best of troubadours."
-I'm glad you have a cat, too! I can't say I have any
of these demons so it's good you are taking care of them!!!
-Well done.

    Hi Pam,
Thank you for the generous six stars. I appreciate the lovely comments to encourage me. Thank you for pointing out some of the lines you liked.
Thank goodness for the cats. Those two kittens I found two years ago have grown. With great teaching from their daddy cat, they have turned into skilled mousers. I haven't seen a mouse in ages. I hope it stays that way with the change in seasons.
    Have a wonderful week.

What an excellent use of onomatopoeia! This is a good poem for the fall Halloween season and, especially, Friday the 13th. The energetic work flows rapidly as it is presenting rhyming couplets in mostly quatrain verses. Readers are kept interested all the way through. Super title, too.

Brilliant verse. Lovely, assured rhyme and rhythm, naturally taking the reader on a satisfying journey into the night. So clever! Well done. Just needs 'who's', not 'whose' for the Pied Piper. X

Talk about good timing! I've been having rats in my apartment. Finally, their pest control company found two openings where they gained entry. Traps caught five of them. My cat had apparently retired from active duty! I gave your poem a six for the content interrupted by the clock and sounds of those small beasts.

    Hi Shari,
Thank you for the six stars and for sharing your story. I haven't seen any mice since I adopted the two kittens I found two years ago. Their father was a good teacher. They love to hunt the mice and the gophers. Good luck with getting the vermin exterminated.
Thank you for the comments about the writing. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I understand your poem. I got an infestaton of those tiny creatures a few months ago when I left some birdseed in the pantry. I thought I was rid if them because I'm no longer seeing signs but at night sometimes I imagine I hear that sound. At least, I hope I"m imagining it.

    Hi BethShelby,
I hope you are imagining the sounds of those pesky rodents, too. I don't like sharing my house with them. At least my cats seem to have things under control. I haven't seen a mouse in ages.

I've not seen signs of them in a while but today I thought I heard a noise in a room I don't use. It was too loud to be a mouse. I'm hoping it was a nut hitting the roof and only sounded like it was in the next room.

I really liked it. You built up the tension and suspence. I could only imagine hearing that in the middle of the night. This was a fun read and would make a heck of a children's book. Great job. Gretchen

The author's poem is engaging, descriptive and creative. I like how the
author uses Tic Toc after each stanza. I felt like I was in a haunted house!
I was getting scared myself as I read these words! The poem flows and
connects well. Thank you for the author's notes - I did enjoy the poem!
The artwork is perfect! Great Poem, Debi!

Hi Debi,
This is a fun poem that use scary Halloween and mythical creatures to make us understand how much mice horrify you. I like the repetition of the single line with the clock and mice sounds intermingled to enhance the fear factor of the dark of night. Thank goodness for the cat.
This would probably have done well in the Halloween poem contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Enjoy the rest of your weekend
Joan
