When I lived on Long Island (St. James), I remember dark clouds and rain more than snow. Now that I'm back in Minnesota, we've hardly had any snow. At any rate good to see an old fan still on and writing. These are very well crafted ABAB rhymed quatrains that. Present an ode to snow so missed, that flows on iambic pentameter. You may miss the snow, but I bet you don't miss the taxes.

I have never longed for winter and I reckon if you had to endure just one you might regret your nostalgia for it. I enjoyed your musing here as your romantic words make we yearn for snow, love Dolly x x x

Thank you, Dolly. That's because you live England. Living in southern states for 7 years where's no trace of snow makes you see it in a different light!,(smile).

Me too. Beautifully penned and illustrated poem of your thoughts on this subject. I especially miss the first snows, the dazzling white carpet on the ground.

Sending you my best today as always, dear Muse.

What an interesting reflection here in this poem on longing for snow and how it affects the various senses -and 'the sparkling glow'-an enjoyable read

You never know what you got til it's gone. Living in drab Britain I long for unbroken sunshine like you get in the south of the US. Nicely composed poem. Well done.

Snow must be a welcome, here in AUS. where I live we don't get any snow at all, I guess I cannot miss what I've never had, though I feel for you if snow is what you once had, an excellent read****kahpot

Even though winter has its hardships, it also has its joys. I love looking at freshly fallen snow. It makes everything appear so lacy and pristine especially when the light shines on it. It makes everything feel right with the world, if only for a moment.

In the middle of winter, there are days I wish the snow would go away, but I would miss it. I am thankful for the seasons.

Hi, my friend. So nice to see a new post from you! I've had friends and relatives move to warmer weather and inevitably they have great nostalgia for the majestic snowfalls that glisten and tickle our inner child's fancy...

Your poem reads delightfully with rhymes that "snap" like a cracking icicle! How, even now, I love to catch a snowflake on my tongue!

(We're never too old for the simple pleasures.)

I (almost) look forward to our first snowfall!

Hi, Karen, thank you for the great review.

This poem was a complete mess. I meant to keep in Preview mode while working on it and then promote it, but it got released before it was even finished.

I have now fixed all the knots, take another look.

It's great writing again. But one question - I didn't promote it yet - how did you get notified?
reply by karenina on 19-Sep-2023
Must have been when you took it out of preview mode the message went out to your fans...you were in my PM notifications! I'm off to read it again!

Oh, I see. But I am planning to to promote it. I usually don't release unprompted poems.
reply by karenina on 19-Sep-2023
I'm pretty sure once you release it from preview it swings into "play" even if you don't want it to! Promote away when you're ready! (smile)

I love to watch it snow. Especially in the early evening. Such a satisfying shimmer on otherwise hard shapes and angles. I used to see snow in Richmond. Good healthy snows. Now might see a few flakes in the breeze. But I can still remember . Gretchen

Thank you for the great review. Strange - but of all the things I miss the most is snow.

Well, we will soon be under snow here in New England. I know what you mean. As much as we like to complain about the snow, I know I would miss a winter wonderland.
