A beautiful photo with a beautiful description, all in 5-7-5 rhythm! Thank you for boiling down one of nature's great sights in so few words. That was a wonderful term, "calm as compassion". It fit the pose well.

I adore the blackbird, it is the most positive bird I know and their song is wonderful as they mimic other birds and have a huge repertoire of tunes to draw from. Your 5-7-5 is magical and confirms my thoughts about this birds, much enjoyed Crystie, love Dolly x

Hi Chrystie, when I read your lovely poem I suddenly realise that I miss the blackbird. We don't see any of them here. In this part of Spain. You're right, they are a sign of autumn. I'd almost forgotten that. I loved your poem. Ulla:)))

As soon as I saw this, I decided not to enter the contest. If this doesn't win, I shall eat my beard (not an eventuality I relish!) What a stonker! (Birmingham UK word for 'best ever')
I love the picture - then I love the poem more! First line perfect alliterative description, then a beautiful and original alliterative simile in line two (exquisite!) - finally a wonderful image and metaphor (and even personification!) to complete it.
Wowsers! That's a six!
Paul

How dpcould we not like Autumn's first tears, of course, autumn is the end cycle of the seasons before the fallowness of winter comes, and the cycle starts again, well done, blessings Roy
