Beautiful imagery in this uplifting piece of writing, Nancy. You write of the indomitable human spirit that overcomes darkness, banishing it with light. A brave face in tragic circumstances. Such courage.

Enjoyable without question. I do think that fewer adjectives and unnecessary words would improve the work (personal opinion). I will come back and see if you agree...John

The death of any child is heartbreaking but when it is one of your own, son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter the grief... there are no words. Escaping into the wonderful world of one's imagination is a great place to begin/ allow the healing process to happen.

Sun Catcher

Dear Amada, I feel your pain. I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine the loss of my grandson. I have taken care of him since he was born. I don't think I could survive his death.

Your writing is so poetic and lyrical.... extraordinary.

Wonderful imagery and metaphor.

"the sun shines like enamel and the wind unravels my ivory hair"

"His smile always made me think of a radiant moon"

"this hunger for insight that plays hide and seek in my soul. "

"the sight of those red and yellow leaves, how they tumble in the wind. I"

"after all this wishing, travelling, and dreaming, maybe I will be able to accept the weight of my losses, and be grateful for everything else I still have" l love it. Hopefully Writing about it will help some.

Big gypsy hugs

I'm so sorry for all you've been through, but so amazed and impressed that you're not letting that hold you down. You're acknowledging the beauty and wonder that still exists around you, and allowing that things will improve and that, at some point, you will be able to bear the weight of your losses. I hope you reach that state of acceptance sooner rather than later but, meanwhile, I find your remarkable attitude absolutely inspirational. Thank you for having the courage to share both your story and your inspiration.

This was a powerful story that had quite an effect on me. You describe issues and problems that many can relate to.

These stood out:

And the pain, like a worn-out old wagon wheel going through a nasty patch of sand, jolts and scrapes at my core. And I wish, oh how I wish, that these tragedies were not, that my life could be as subtle as a verse. Still, I comfort myself; the sun shines brighter in that patch of winter snow.

Terrific descriptive imagery and visuals. Very much enjoyed, thank you for sharing.
