rhyming counting poem 'Ten Acorns Grew Upon an Oak.' Another excellent poem you have crafted here and a story to ring so true; 'from little things big things grow.' Very good work done.

Another wonderful counting poem, Brooke. It's nice to have an alternative to Monkeys jumping on the bed (one of my girls DID crack her head). I love the life cycle reference at the end. Great write. :) Nancy

Ah, the hazardous life of an acorn. You missed the one where acorns are used as ammunition by the squirrels.
I can't go into my backyard without wearing a metal colander on my head.
Your counting poems are always a treat. Who knew there were so many ways an acorn can take a dive?

Peace, Lee

This is perfect for a counting story. I like the hopeful ending...where soon a tree will grow...kids love these counting tales and they love acorns. My grandson will love this
God bless

Hey young lady, I don't know how you keep coming up with these wonderful, easy to understand, whimsical yet uplifting poems. I may have only been on site 17 days but I know when I see your name beside a poem; I am going to enjoy it. Thanks for sharing "Ten Acorns Grew Upon an Oak". My favorite line: When swinging rocked one acorn loose,
the others heard a ping.

then one got evicted
when two robins built their home

Lots of clever lines like those make for another terrific counting poem. The ending is very upbeat... LOVE it! :)

Your 'Ten Little Indians' poem style strikes again. You develop a charming cadence in these styles of poem which will have the children remembering each verse as each acorn reaches its fate. Love the final touch when the last secures the future.

Brooke, Great little poem for a children's book. It will teach the boys and girls to count while also teaching them the value of acorns! Smiles. Carole
