EXCELLENT!!!!!There should never have been a reason For Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks and their contemporaries. But since there was, you are to be congratulated for memorializing the huge steps these individuals made for the advancement of mankind. When my wife was here, we visited St. Augustine, FL, where there were many homes that MLK hid in to avoid assassination.

Congratulations. You have managed to document this dynamic man's life from his childhood, his life as a young man, on to his life as a husband and father, ending with his martyred end. Anyone unfamiliar with his story can learn much about him simply by reading this brilliant account.

A man with a dream... one not just for him but for everyone. This is a magnificent piece and your notes are so detailed. I learned things I never knew. I love to see the excitement on my great granddaughters faces when they learn about good strong men who fit into their world instead of the crime and devastation. Being from a mixed family, they see the struggle at a very young age.

Thank you for sharing. Smiles and hugs, Carol

Hi Debbie, that was an incredible poem about Martin Luther King, he was an amazing, determined man. I knew of him; who hasn't? But I've never read about him in depth. You have me wanting to know more.

Your rhyme and rhythm was perfect, I never stumbled once through reading this epic poem. Then your author's notes, detailing each stanza was a bonus, and I enjoyed reading both. Thoroughly deserving a six, my friend. Well done!! :)) Sandra x

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was vastly underappreciated by moderate whites during the time of his greatest active life. Greatly underappreciated. He was a truly great and gifted man.
Thank you for your tribute.

I would have to say that Martin Luther King was the most influential person of the last century and his message is still relevant now. An excellent, informative piece Debbie, I enjoyed reading it.

Now you're talking! One of my most favorite historical figures - yet he lived in my lifetime and I remember his crusade well, and the price he paid.

My parents always believe the "coloreds" were intellectually and morally beneath whites; thankfully, I never bought into this. When my mother told me in 2008 she had voted for Obama (she was also a conservative Republican), I nearly fell out of my chair. When I asked her why, she answered, "It's time for a change." I just wish King had lived long enough to see a black man in the highest office in America.

I have always wondered if Luther came from the Lutheran teachings; I was a member of the Lutheran church for many years and this is the first time I've heard this.

I had never heard of the attempted suicides either - and he was so young and so misguided in doing so. This is as tragic as being made to whip your own siblings.

Although Georgia is slowly changing, the state could still use an MLK.

I hear his last speech now and it gives me chills. He knew what awaited him.

At least he saw the Civil Rights Act passed by Johnson, and there is a history in St. Augustine that spurred that action. Also, King spent a month here in the 60s, and was jailed much of that time. He was considered a trouble maker by those who felt threatened.

Thank you for this educational and beautiful poem about King. Your last line - in bold text - sent a chill down my spine.

So very well researched and written, as always.

Good morning, Debbie!
Your poetic tribute to Martin Luther King is exceptionally well-crafted and moving.
I was fifteen years old when I first heard the Reverend King deliver his now famous speech.
It moved me then; it moves me know.
Social injustice still exists not only in America, but throughout the world.
And yet, many advancements have been made, people are more understanding and empathetic, and the works of MLK beat in the heart and actions of many...

Thank you for sharing, Debbie!
Much enjoyed and appreciated.

A terrific character was Martin Luther King Jnr. Yes, they say he foresaw his death, that speech inspired a movement that inspired a flood. It was a decade of death and assassination, the Kennedies, Martin and numerous others, this is a marathon and an epic poem, I would go back and do some editing, abdvimprovecan already brilliant poem, well done, blessings Roy
