Day 30, what poetry means to me, National Poetry Month

A chapter in the book An April shower of Poems

Celebration of Life

by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens

It is a fitting way
to end this challenge
of writing a poem a day
this glorious month ends
and another begins
tomorrow

Each day as I write
and wonder
Think of subjects as I
Ponder
My heart is filled with
gratitude as all subjects
are within my reach
for we are blessed
with Freedom of speech

Poetry is a way
of letting your being
flow onto paper and
out to the far corners
of the world
It means I should write
responsibly, express
my inner feelings
always keeping in mind
the feelings of others

It could be short form
Only five, seven and five
Syllables to read

Written with soul
that may be all you need

Poetry is a way to
share love and concern
couplet's and quatrain's to write
Many other forms to learn

I could write a newspaper
to wrap up this great month
Of poetry written for you
however, May is upon us
there's still much to do

Write.... write, from your heart
let it flow
Create a legacy of words
as through life you go

Thanks for reading each day
and for all your support
National Poetry Months over
but there's still much to say
For once April opened
That God given, poetic door
There was no stopping
