Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Day 29, for John AKA jmdg1954, National Poetry Month

A chapter in the book An April shower of Poems

Throw out the ball

by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens

The crack of the bat
the roar of the crowd
peanuts and popcorn
vendors shouting out loud
and then there is John
a loyal Yankees fan
He's also a writer
And a great family man

Baseball he knows
and knows it quite well
Each season he writes
some great story he'll tell
About Yankees and Cardinals
Spring training and more
Who will win
the World Series this year,
'Yankees for sure.'

But John, that can't happen
What then would we do
The Cards can't give
the World Series to you
Let's meet at the stadium
As the first ball is pitched out
cheer, have a root-beer
that's what baseball's all about
Win or lose, it's a wonderful game
And, John, if I had my way
it's you... who would be
in Fanstorian Friendship's
great 'Hall of Fame'

Well friends, I am working on a finale... Thanks to John, AKA jmdg1954 for providing the inspiration for this 29th poem. His encouraging comments, loyal support, and humorous remarks throughout the year has been a great blessing to me. Go Yankees, Go Cards. And whoever that fellow is in the picture, he has on the wrong baseball cap.. LOL :-) Carolyn
