This work has reached the exceptional level
Day28, inspired by my father-in-law, National Poetry Month

A chapter in the book An April shower of Poems

Sail me away

by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens

Sail me away
beyond the blue
where peace awaits my
tired and weary soul
Leave me not to float
aimlessly about
on the open seas
but guide me gently
and safely
to that shore

I'll walk the beach
following foot prints
in the sand
until I can make my way
alone in this foreign land

Oh! Can it be
loved ones are awaiting me
Running eagerly to greet
my now 'happy' soul
Weary, and alone no more
I'll walk with my Lord
On foreverlands
peaceful shore

Friends, we are on the count down. Only two poems left to go. I appreciate all the wonderful support and encouragement you have given me on this journey through the month of April. National Poetry Month. Thanks for reading. :-) Carolyn
