Day 25, free verse for National Poetry Month

A chapter in the book An April shower of Poems

In the Hollow of Thy Hand

by Carolyn 'Deaton' Stephens

In the hollow of Thy hand
There is gentleness and rest

Thy hand covers me as a hen
would cover her chicks
to protect them from the storm
and perils of this life

Thy hand is there to raise me up
It steadies me when I am shaken
by the weight of the world
it lightens my load, it guides me
Thy hand is the mouth of Wisdom
Casting its shadow, shading my weary soul
In the hollow of Thy Hand
There is gentleness and rest

Thanks to Moonwillow for the use of Green River Falls.
This poem starts with two lines and doubles, four lines then eight line. Sometimes I write in a form that if I were a Psalmist I would employ.

And dear readers, only five more poems to go in this commitment to a poem a day for National Poetry Month.
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
