Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
Sonnet contest entry

Brain-work

Sonnets Contest Winner 
I put my brain to work in overdrive
then wrote a piece uniquely my own style
Exhilarated and so much alive
and bursting with excitement all the while

The sonnet flowed like wine atop the tongue
Shakespeare himself would hang his head in shame
Each spoken word would ring like it was sung
and soon the masses all would praise my name

But once the piece was done I nearly cried
It's then I realized the entry fee
The winnings would not match the work applied
What madness was this folly cast on me?

So for the mere two bucks that I'm in debt
this twenty minute sonnet's all you get

Write a poem using the Shakespearean sonnet layout (Meter is not required): 14 lines, rhyme scheme of abab/cdcd/efef/gg. The couplet (gg) must make a "turn". Have fun!
