Please Remember The Farmers

by Cedar

The farmers across the world,
are the backbone of each nation
But, unlike several other jobs,
there's no sick leave or vacation

Their days are long and hard,
stretching late into the night
Only to start things over again,
during the morning's early light

Taking care of all the crops,
that's growing in their fields
And praying for a rainy season,
in order to increase the yields

Repairing broken machinery,
is their biggest ongoing cost
Whenever there's a breakdown,
more time and money are lost

They endure many hardships,
which requires loan after loan
It's always a constant struggle,
trying not to lose what they own

If anyone deserves our praise,
for the many things that they do
It is definitely all the farmers,
who are now becoming so few

We, as the daily consumers,
offer our undying gratitude
If it were not for the farmers,
where would we get our food?

Writing Prompt
Write an Ode poem. It is a poem praising a person, place or thing.

Recognized

Each time we gather at the dining table to enjoy a delicious meal with our family or something as simple as fixing a bowl of cereal,
please remember the farmers occasionally. Almost everything we eat, in one way or another, comes directly from the farmers.
The last two sentences of this poem, when you think about it, is a very serious question...
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
