Metamorphosis

by Cogitator

Wretched body has released me
A lump of flesh upon a bier
No desires now that I'm free
No more fuel to light my fear

Friends and family with dewy eyes
Sharing stories of my dead past
Feeling sorry for my demise
Not admitting bodies don't last

Heavenly bliss, resurrection!
I wish I could communicate
It doesn't work this direction
They all must deal with their own fate

A funeral, like a wedding
Is meant to be a gathering
To bring us close and share our being
Funerals are for the living
