ABAB about loss

Alone

by Jackarrie

My memories are distant, becoming lost in time
The love we had as a couple, we truly then did care
Your infectious smile - I thought was always mine
But history proved me wrong, how was I to prepare?

Every morn, I wake alone in a cold and lonely bed
Trying to visualize your face, but haze is all I see
Thoughts of you keep running through my head
Staring alone through the night, wishing it was me

I prayed for divine intervention to be on the cards for us
To see the bright stars twinkle, with compassion and of love
When the sun began to set, hope slipped into the abyss
You fell asleep; I lost you, now your love comes from above

I sometimes hear your voice as if I was beside you
I  also sense your presence, but no image comes near
If you were here my darling, you would feel the same too
The memory of you will always be precious and so dear
