The Nature of Life

by John Pittman

The Nature of life

Do you remember the sunflowers
in the plush fields beyond the pines
under the old oak tree
where the children played
around the rosy

Where they looked up at the sky
and saw the animals tramping by
as they climbed up so high

Do you remember how that old one
would whistle her songs of teaching
through her leaves while directing
the wind to tickle the flowers
making them release their puffy nightingales
into the twilight hours

Do you remember the lights
that drifted in and out
like winking stars
floating above the inviting streams
of sound resonating off the moon lit pond
where the ghost gently sprinkled squabs dew
on the blades of green warriors
who fought never ending battles
against the rays of sun lit days
where nothing but peaceful splendor
enveloped everything
and it made you remember one thing
it made you remember to smile
