Baring My Claws

by The Duchess of Drumborg

“Lucrezia, you beautiful creature, please don’t tease me? “  My new man thought I’d sin!

With a come-hither- look, I began to play my zither.  Angelic music echoed in the courtyard

Neighbours and passers-by came out to listen. From a balcony above me a guitar joined in.

It was a balmy summer evening, and many of them began dancing. I was playing my trump card.

I’d had so many lovers in the past.  Seeing others laugh and kiss gives me pleasure. Does this mean I’m complex?

As a Gothic goddess my powers are strong and awesome.  Treat me well or cross me at your peril!

A fifth generation witch, I am at one with Nature and her ways.  Those who stand in my way I’ll hex.

Once a weak orphaned kitten, I am matriarch of the black cats.  No longer tame, I am truly feral!

If you find scratch marks on your front door, lock it well. I’ll be out on the prowl tonight!

I was just having fun.
