Seven Scriptural Reasons to Believe Jesus Was Forsaken By God While On The Cross 

1. Adam died spiritually and physically for his sin. He was warned he would die in the DAY he ate of the fruit. He died physically 900 years later.

1. Spiritual death is separation from God, made excruciatingly painful to Jesus who had enjoyed full intimate fellowship with His Father until Calvary

1. Christ followed this pattern  of experiencing two deaths to pay our debt of offenses to the righteous, Holy God of sinners

1. Standing in the place of condemned sinners, Christ called God, not My Father. but God. Sinners cannot call God “Father”.

1. He experienced spiritual darkness ; “WHY have YOU forsaken Me?” Sinners are in darkness.

1. In anticipation of God’s forsaking Him for the first time in His 33 years, He sweat  blood as He agonized over the cost of doing God”s will. Mere death could never evoke such a response from Him.

1. His choosing to do God’s will when He could have declined it  without loss of His Heavenly position, pleased the Father and modeled intelligent obedience.
