When you give one too many chances on the same person.

A chance

It all starts with a chance
It all starts with a glance
The fear that keeps on burning
The hope that has the gut churning
 
It starts all over
After they leave you colder
The hurt that left you empty
The hope that's now so hefty
 
The last is when you lose
When your hearts is but a bruise
When it all stays numb
And you feel oh so dumb
