Surreal Coming of Age Story
In this contest, I want you to write a coming of age story. This means that the story must deal with characters who are either teenagers or about to enter their teens. Usually stories like this deal with family conflict, peer pressure, drugs, bullying, sex issues, or sometimes all of the above. There's a twist to this contest though. I want you to incorporate a surreal event into this story. By that I mean that the event must be something that is fairly random and seems quite impossible, but has a semi-reasonable explanation. If you need inspiration, check out movies like Magnolia (in one scene it starts raining frogs), Vanilla Sky, Lost Highway or Fight Club. Another good thing to check out is a series on Cartoon Network called, "FLCL". That show fits the bill perfectly for this contest. It's a comming of age story with tons of bizarre occurrences in it, and one of my main inspirations for creating this contest.

The prize pool is currently 70.00 member dollars. There are 5 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 120.00 member dollars.
