Was Deity, Will Travel...

Imagine, if you will, that the Greek, Roman, Celtic, Norse, and Egyptian gods have been overthrown in a coup. Now all the former Shining Ones are out of work, and need to find a new job, pronto.

Your job is to choose a god or goddess from one of the pantheons above, decide what s/he might find to do to earn a crust in the mortal world, and write a story to tell us what happens. The period can be any time, past, present or future. You can tell us how your god(dess) landed the job, or show us his or her first day. You can tell us how s/he succeeded or failed.

Here are the rules.

Make it humorous.
Keep it under 1000 words.
Keep your god(dess) in his/her traditional character.

Here are some sample gods, but you can pick others if you wish.

Odin, Loki, Thor, Lugh, Hera, Hades, Aphrodite, Hermes, Jupiter, Diana, Minerva, Set, Ra, Nut.

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 25.00 member dollars. There are 5 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 50.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.

Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Sunday, January 14, 2007.
