ABC 2D
Poetry Contest
This is a spinoff of the recurring 2D Acrostic contest, with a lower difficulty level, making it more accessible if you've been intimidated from joining past 2D acrostic contests.
Each word on each row must begin with the next consecutive letter of the alphabet. This repeats going down, with each subsequent row header beginning with the next consecutive letter for its column.
Example 1: 4x4, descending in both directions --
Kangaroos love mangy nomads.
Lions make nice oligarchs.
Manatees never order pasta.
Naked ostriches pee querulously.
Example 2: 3x3, ascending both directions --
Exceptionally dutiful cats
Deliver cold birds,
Crave boundless accolades
Example 3: 3x3, descending across while ascending down --
Depressed, exasperated, furious
Canadians denounce eloquently,
berating copious duties.
Your piece does NOT have to follow a square format though, as in the 2D Acrostic contests. The number of words per line does not matter. It could be as little as one.
Example 4: variable unfixed dimensions, descending both ways, excerpted from a story about horse betting:
Cops dispersed everyone.
Despite ensuing fallout,
Equestrian fandom grew
Flouting government horsebetting injunctions,
Gaudy hucksters
Hoodwinking imbibing juveniles.
Inspector Jalvert kept listening,
Joyless, kept livid
Knowing
Legalization
Maybe
Neigh.
Example 5: more of the same -- an excerpt from a redacted work, "Fanstory-inspired annual resolutions"

The contest winner will win half of the prize pool which is based on the number of entries. The second and third place winners will each share the remaining prize pool. The prize pool is currently 30.00 member dollars. There are 12 spots still open. If all open spots are used the prize pool will be 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
