Who's there?
Write a poem/story that starts with one of those sentences or their derivative:
The last man on the earth sat in the room.
Suddenly he heard a knocking.
or
The rocket went farther and farther from Earth.
He prepared himself to months of solitude.
Suddenly he heard knocking on the outside door.
or
They put his coffin into the hole and threw earth on it.
Suddenly he heard knocking on the coffin.
or
Anything similar.
Your poem/story must start with the sentence above. You can change it but the meaning has to remain - the story beging by the impossible knocking.
The poem/story can be about anything. Creative approaches are welcomed but the contest voters will be aware of the challenge made here to begin your story with the sentence provided.
There is no minimum or maximum length and it can be any kind of writing.
The contest winner will win half of the prize pool of 90.00 member dollars. In this contest at least 2 submissions must be made for the vote to begin.
Deadline: Contest is closed. Deadline was Friday, May 15, 2009.
