TIME ANOMALIES / TIME TRAVEL
The topic for this contest is: TIME ANOMALIES / TIME TRAVEL.
Write a story about time anomalies or time travel. The story does not have to be specifically about the topic, but please consider the topic when posting your contest entry.
There are reports of slips in time, in which people have been transported instantaneously into the past, future, or a parallel universe. These people report gaps in time, jumps through time, missing time, and glimpses into the past or future.
Examples include the following:
1) In 1935, Air Marshal Sir Victor Goddard of the British Royal Air Force claims to have flown through a strange storm to be temporarily transported four years into the future.
2) In 1972 four Utah coeds were driving home to their dorms along Highway 56. They pulled into a parking lot to get directions from a few men coming out of a building. The girls sped off, but realized they were being chased by the men in strange, tri-wheeled, egg-shaped vehicles. The pursuers weren't human.
3) In 1932, German newspaper reporter J. Bernard Hutton and his colleague, photographer Joachim Brandt report witnessing a World War II bombing that didn't take place until 1943.
4) As they were driving along a nearly empty road, a man began to overtake what appeared to be an antique car traveling very slowly. As he passed the slow-moving vehicle, he slowed their to get a good look at the old car. The driver of the car was a panicked young woman dressed in vintage 1940s clothing, and her passenger was a small child likewise dressed. The car vanished.
5) Ronald Mallett, Professor at the University of Connecticut, has used Einstein's equations to design a time machine with circulating laser beams. While his team is still looking for funding, he hopes to build and test the device in the next 10 years.
