Hi Dick
I never had a great relationship with my dad, but my sister did! Think I was always jealous of that fact, you know not being the "favored" one and all, but on looking back, I think maybe we all get what we needed in the scheme of things. This is exceptional. Thanks for putting it out there and me finding it on a day that I needed to read it. Hope you are well. Please stay safe.

Its amazing that one phrase, repeated, can carry us through many moments in life--& you've definitely found one phrase that resonates like a bell.
So much feeling, so many unsaid emotions, are contained in
a parent's saying: "I can't do it for you." The words can be said with different expressiveness & emphasis, but the basic underlying concept is that the child must figure out the way to put in the effort needed.
It's lovely for you to express gratitude & appreciation.

You did it! This told quite a story in no more than 100 words. As a dad from many moons ago, I remember how difficult it is to let your son or daughter fail time and again, and all you can do is encourage them.
