I love this poem for its color, its beauty and nice 17 syllables.
I can even visualize the red waves generated by red poppies in the beautiful ocean breeze.

Exceptionally done.

Nicely done metaphor for wild poppies blowing in the wind. And also a good descriptive metaphor for read algae discussed in the notes.
Congrats for placing second in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.

Hi, Gypsy. Beautiful work, and congratulations on your second place finish. The imagery of your Haiku is lovely, and the reader can visualize the poppies swaying in the ocean breeze. Scarlet waves goes along with the ocean reference, and the word "scarlet" makes me associate it with blood, as with poppies commemorating the war dead. Lovely artwork. judi

Congratulations on your Second Place finish, Gypsy! I was reminded of the poem "In Flanders Fields" about the poppies growing on the World War I battlefield in Belgium. Your "scarlet waves" evoke a sense of the oceans of blood shed in wars.

The author's words are descriptive, clear, and creative. I found these
words to be uplifting. The words and artwork inspired me to plant
the red poppy seeds I have! The poem flows and connect well.
Hope you are doing well.....

"Scarlet Waves" if I had not witnessed this with my own eyes, reading these words alone would have perfectly described what others may never have seen but now can visualize. Loved it. Thanks and best regards.

You definitely are the best Haiku writer that I've ever seen. I really like this Haiku. The idea of poopies creating a wave like an ocean's wave, is exactly what they do out in the fields. Red poppies are gorgeous... the picture is really gorgeous. Love it! -January L.

GBR,

Whether California or Normandy, France, the poppies wave in the ocean breeze, especially on the traditional Memorial Day, May 30th.

Good use of colors to complement and expand on your Haiku.
