Compared to you, Lisa May, the things I've done in my life could fit on the head of a pin. This is a fascinating story, told with incredible detail of the flora and fauna found in that part of Australia. The possibility of an encounter with a crocodile, especially as the line of "rocks" started moving, kept me on tenterhooks all the way through. Excellent writing, as always, and good luck in the contest.

If we gave points for courage and endurance and venturing into difficult experiences in our comparative lives, I think you would win hands down with what you have dealt with and accomplished!
(My story got beaten into 2nd place by what I considered to be an inferior piece, such is my vanity!... it looked to me that the prompt was set up so his particular piece was expected to win and a late run of votes meant that it did.)

You're so sweet, but you definitely have a higher opinion of what I've accomplished than I have. I'm sorry about your piece being knocked out by one not as worthy, but look at what happened to us both in the Poem for a Child competition. I think the winning poem was wonderful, but we both remember the second place burping spaghetti finisher. I wonder sometimes if the voters are sober when they cast their votes.

You wrote a very interesting story about your fishing trip. Knowing about the Crocodiles and still staying with the men and the boat, would not have been my action. I have to hand it to you, you are one brave soul.

Thanks for reviewing. Bravery is a strange quality - I don't think I am particularly brave - some situations scare me rigid - but I hate missing out on new things.

This sounds like a grand fishing adventure. You were right in the heart of trouble with danger all around trying to catch the big one. I guess that perhaps it may have been worth it because of the adrenaline rush and the tasty meal. Thanks for sharing this well written work. Well done!

Thanks for your review. I was just plain scared, but it was beautiful and the fish was certainly tasty.

A very well-written story about your fishing trip and the successful catch you have for dinner. The crocodiles can be scary and they are sneaky too and attack when one least expect them to attack.

You're so brave! I loved that you took a " a slalom course through the croc-rocks!" I didn't know most of the other wildlife and wished I knew what those birds looked like. But am very glad you got to shore safely and could enjoy a memorable dinner!
Best wishes in the contest!

I sure wouldn't want to do it again! Brahminy kites are big birds like sea eagles, a jabiru is a black & white, tall, long-legged bird like a stork, and corellas are small, white, noisy parrots.

Scary! You provided vivid descriptions and built suspense masterfully in this well-written story; meticulous detail in footnotes as well--fascinating! Hope you enjoyed your dinner. Cheers. LIZ

Oh my goodness, you wouldn't catch me anywhere near that river with those crocs about! Glad you caught a big fish though, but the fear would have put me off fishing for life! I enjoyed reading about your day trip fishing Lisa, but would not like to experience it! Love Dolly x

That's the beauty of writing - we can live vicariously without the danger!

This fish story, On Tenderhooks, was well-written to place the reader right there with you on that floating crocodile buffet. A hearty group though, maneuvering the "rocks', snagging a sea bass, and making it back in for a heroes dinner. Neat.

Oh, boy, thanks for this little vacation - great detail made me feel I was right there. Glad there were no mishaps with the croc. You could have embellished it for the sake of drama, but there's certainly nothing fishy about this tale. Don't know if you're familiar with that expression. Hugs, Lou

Quite a scary fishing trip. So proud of keeping your cool and going on with the fish expedition. Taking a slalom course through the croc-rocks, I was able to breathe more easily when they slipped beneath the surface and swam away.
thank you for sharing and good luck with the contest.

Thanks for reviewing my story, Iza. I liked your story about catching the boot - I didn't know yetis wore boots, hahaha.
