What a wonderful story. I could see the ocean waves from your words and the nice lady in curlers greeting you kindly at the time. Too bad it's not a reality anymore. Great job. Shirley

I enjoyed reading this poem. It's a really nice reminder of what things used to be like. I particularly like the way you connect it to a cup of sugar. Thanks for sharing this and have yourself a really great day

Powerful and poignant; elegant imagery...waves slap the sand...joyous ramp...when houses and hearts were easy to reach...beautifully wrought! Cheers. LIZ

This is elegantly written prose. I like the imagery of the breeze caressing the asphalt, as well as the internal rhyme in some of the sentences, though I do not know if they are intentional. For example, "Yard and barred."

Amada: I can relate to your story with my walking dogs and no one is around except other dog walkers. I know there was a time when we knew all our neighbors and helped one another in hospitality. I can smell those blueberry muffins. Great writing. flylikeaneagle

I enjoyed reading your post. Yes, we did live in a more carefree time. I am fearful that we may never get back to that. We may be experiencing a new normal.

The Spirit...of Christmas
Of good will...the desire to live through everything and anything with the dignity that moves towards life not away from...seems now hidden in lost souls.
I'm not living in an Orson Wells movie ...even if everyone else around me chooses too.
You're love for life is compelling and will draw the longing back out into the sunlight were we belong. Love Michael

Great writing that uses creativity to draw on past positive memories and carry them with you into this difficult time. I really like how you create a friendly and inviting story so that the reader can walk with you. Bill

This is a truly beautiful write, my friend. I love the wording which paints such lovely imagery. Our state has reopened (bad idea). I looked at the Dairy Queen parking lot last evening. It looked like a party was going on. Hugging, no masks, no social distancing. I call it the DQ zoo. Stay safe, my friend~Debbie

I think that you made an awesome and relatable story. It is very well written and descriptive. Ypu describe the neighborhood really good. I can relatable to the loneliness off the pandemic and remembering the old days. Great story!
