Hi Tom, so much wisdom in Bear Who Cries. He seemed to be right about so many things. The so-called progress we have going on now isn't good either.

The name of your Indian "Bear That Cries" is enough to warrant an exceptional rating on its own.
Then toss in all the philosophy "wherever the white man goes, death follows."
Terrific!

Native Indians of North America is a popular genre at the moment. I can see you have researched this chapter well, as we learn about the life and death of Bear Who Cries a Shawnee Indian.

I don't suppose their religion is any more whackey than ours. A race of people that had their land stolen from them. I found this write interesting and informative.

Hello Thomas,
I am running out of superlatives to bestow upon your writing. I so look forward to every new chapter. Once again you weave a tale that is down to earth, yet filled with so much beauty and wisdom. I smiled when I read about Bear Who Cries' talking stick. I employed a "talking stick" when teaching Native American mythology in my high school classes... Thank you for sharing...

Hi, Thomas

This speech by Bear Who Cries is so chillingly still accurate:

'My heart is nothing but dust now. The spirit has left me. Humankind is The Great Spirit's biggest mistake. I am certain all of the good people are dead...'

Not much to add to that. A deeply affecting chapter once again!

I light of the tragic events surrounding us, it makes you wonder if there are any more good people.

A lovely photo/painting of a bear that complements this chapter very well. He sees many things that are no good, cries about it. At the end he dies. No changes needed.

Good morning, Thomas

Enjoyed the continuation and a virtual six. Enjoyed the various cultural aspects, of how Native American saw and interpreted various objects and related them to creation and religion. The Lenape Indians had a similar belief in the use of the talking stick though and the turtle in creation.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

A great fellow, Bear Who Cries. I think if I'd been the Traveller I'd have mourned him too. I wish more so-called white people would have been as open to the Natives as the narrator was.

The man, whom I suspect is called Thomas, certainly has an entire history of the country in him. Many thanks for letting us in on that.

I was wondering how we all got here. That great turtle reminds me of some Asian mythology along the same lines. I wonder if that tale got around the world?

I was going to include the story of the creation of roaches and bees, but you already covered it.
