Enjoyed this chapter Thomas, feel there is more than meets the eye with this Captain Springs character, looking forward to find out.
Love the what goes on tour, stays on tour attitude of the soldiers.....things that still hold true today.

This is a fascinating look at how these rough-going men and especially a bigger-than-life leader like Captain Springs. Having those qualities might have made for a good politician after service, if he lived that long.

Interesting idea. Custer became an Indian fighter. to enhance his reputation for the presidential bid he was planning.

Captain Springs was the best negotiator I ever saw. I always felt that he could make peace with everyone if he had the chance to get them together. He was what the Bible meant when it said the lamb would lay down with the lion. Jeremiah Springs could make it happen.' I loved this write especially the bible quote I have used a few times it is wonderful this is great writing from you as always love and regards Meia xx

Hello!

Short or long, I'm hooked. I so enjoyed this chapter from the twirling dancing soldier to the fight between the Apaches and Comanches and the aversion of war.
Once again, a well-crafted offering.

Best Wishes,
diane

Thomas,

Your Captain sounds like the kind of guy we need today to make this part of the world turn right-side back up. *smile* Wonder if any of his great-grandboys are available anywhere?? hahahaha!

Another fine chap -- and I'm on to the next!

Wherever there were soldiers, there were prostitutes. Soldiers and their wives had an understanding about the needs of a man away from home. Whatever happened while a soldier was away from home was never talked about when he got back. (Wanta bet??)

Another good job.

I really like this captain springs. He sounds like an honorable man, the kind of man that men respect and enjoy following. I love this saga. Very well done.

You have really captured the feel of the Traveller and it reads as though we are listening directly to him when he talks about Jeremiah Springs.
I do like the different little snippets you bring in, re the singing, the dancers etc. Well told Thomas
cheers
