I liked this poem about the ideas of war in perpetuity. As long as people feel that war will create something, like change, it will remain an option. I actually never realized, aside from the shit holes I was sent to blow up, that much of the world is barely out of their caves, and still howling at the moon.

Excellent point. That just means they aren't as efficient at killing each other.

This is an excellent poem of passion and compassion. War and fighting makes no sense at all. However, from what I see of people hating each other because of political beliefs right here on FanStory--can we expect any different anywhere else? Marilyn

In my opinion wars will continue to be waged until something happens to mankind that forces him to rally together against a common foe. But of course this is just another war of defence.

When we evolve and leave our protein bodies behind, this will give us a great opportunity to leave our hunter instincts behind. This has nothing to do with any type of controlling supernatural being, it's just part of our evolution... ~Mel~

A "Salute," Tom! A most commendably written message to us all. The last sentence of your poem is my favorite..."He answers, only the dead know when the war is over!" You write from the heart, my dear friend, "And your words play the strings of my soul." Keep your quill wet in the ink, and your creative juices flowing. Hope the 4th is kissing your cheek. God bless, and best wishes for good health and happiness always.
Respectfully,
Bill (Junglefighter)

For some reason most of what I am reading today is depressing, reading about death, cancer, death from cancer, war never ending. It isi good poem, but I am getting a bit depressed today. Not your falt. Must be something in the air.

Good morning, Thomas

Sad, haunting, powerful images, the picture conveying the truth about mankind's penchant to destroy himself. Great last line. Enjoyed.

Take care and stay safe,

Ray

haha, if you look up insanity it says repeating events over and over. So, based my mankind's own words man is insane! They repeat war over and over and get the same results. Man is still primitive compared to advanced civilizations in the universe. Man loves to play with their toys. is no fun if they never get to use them, so they look for a reason to test their weapons. Man loves to kill, why they kill animals. We are the animals.

Your story poem poses many questions:
How long will war continue for?
When will it end?
And then you answer it yourself:
The wars will never end[.]
The war on earth ends for the dead.
The next war is in the spiritual realms. Some rest in peace, others do not.

A great poem on wars and rumors of wars. They have been around since the beginning of time and are no less barbaric. I don't know how long it will last, but I do know who is coming back and will end it! I can't wait till he pours His wrath out on the evil!

Love the ending...great truth in that. Yes, the Bible says there will be all types of violence, war, until Christ returns. I don't see mankind changing. This is great, blessings...
