This old man has nothing to worry about as long as he is able to reel his misplaced memories in. Memory loss occurs when the the memory fish won't take the bait or, having taken it sucks it off the hook allowing it to slip away once more.

Thanks for reviewing.

I love the fishing metaphor - as a memory fights its way to
the surface of his mind the "old man reels it in"Nice use of alliteration in first line.
Great imagery and the perfect picture to go with your 3 line entry.
Best of luck in the contest. It should do well.

I really liked the metaphor and the visual and emotional impact of the final line of this 5-7-5. Your use of alliteration and the artwork selection reinforces your theme. Best wishes in the 3-Line Poem contest- Joan

For such a short poem this is really great.
You really captured a beautiful image in it, an old
Man reminiscing about something. Thanks for sharing

Excellent message in a tight structure. Metaphor, personification, alliteration, imagery--it's all there- the elements that make for good poetry.

You write about how my life goes. A man was starting to get forgetful. A friend put him to the test. Fred, what's your favorite flower?"
Fred thought. Finally, he called out, What's the one with thorns?
"Rose?"
"That's it. Rose, what my favorite flower?"

Very nice three-liner with lots of metaphorical imagery included, DALLAS.
Excellent example of alliteration in your very first line with, "mislaid memory".
I thought of those stricken with Alzheimer's while fighting desperately to keep their heads above water (so to speak) to retain their memories.
Well done, best wishes to you in the contest.

Thanks for the stellar review, Dean. So glad you liked it. I had alzheimers in mind when I wrote it. Watched my mom deteriorate over a period of 10 years.

My father was diagnosed as being in the early stages of the disease last June, a little over a year ago, DALLAS.
It's a horrible thing, for sure.
You're very welcome.

Excellent three-liner, Alice. I love the third line. LOL. You have a very good chance of winning with this poem. As you note, the artwork is perfect for your poem.
Good luck in the contest, my dear friend. Bob
