I am giving a five star for your honesty and humor.
The writing,??? Uh it's ok...LOL
A journal can be a great way to look back and review your own thoughts and feelings.
Yes, FS is a strange and wonderful place for writers.
Glad you are enjoying the experience.
Peace.

Thanks! The journal was fictitious but the experiences were/are real as we learn the ropes around here. Dennis

A fine review of a great site. I've been here two years, so many great poets and stories to be told. Thank you for sharing.

I joined about two years ago too and I agree it's a great site. I think there is a learning experience we all go through before we really catch on as to how the whole site actually works. Tried to capture some of that in this piece. Thanks for commenting. Dennis

When you are long enough you will realize that losers win and winners lose. i have made errors myself along the way. what I do not understand is that they say you must not question a rating or criticism. Well I have done so and sometimes the reviewer will say it was all a mistake. After reviewing for hours mistakes do occur. once you do not get into any brawl over it is what I think

I hope you realize that 90%@ of my post was tongue in cheek? I've been here almost two years so I can relate to what you are saying very well. I chuckle every time I get a low rating because I know it's a newbie taking the editing bit too seriously. Been there done with that, now mostly enjoying the ride. Thanks for reading anf commenting, Dennis

Well, I tell you what, you have given me a laugh today. Tears are running down my face? I read it to my husband and we both cracked up? brilliant. Here lies the epitome of irony. Giddy

Those words are of course, music to my ears! Did I make you "giddy" with laughter? I hope so! God bless you and your dear husband as well. Dennis

I'm unsure whether to read this as fiction or fact. That Dog Poem narrative you have running through the later entries is a scream. I've mucked up the prompt rules too, but CAT - DOG...and he won, hmmh! I love the idea of your journal. Shows a kind of progression of thinking. I joined in August last year (I think) and I'm too obsessed now. My other writing outlets have taken a back seat. The feedback's usually great...get what you mean about the 4 star denier. It's not funny at the time, but when they react like pouting kids, you realise that there's a lot of ego flying around. My first four star denier was right; I had pressed the wrong button; but he was over the top with indignity..it was funny, but kind of aggressive too. Keep up the good work. If you are as entertaining in verse or prose as in diary keeeping, you'll do really well here.

Yes, although the journal is pure fiction, there are some items in it from my experience here (almost two years). The contest thing is very real when you find some winning who blatantly ignore the rules. But all in all, it's a great site that works in spite of glitches here and there. Thanks for reading and commenting, much appreciated, Dennis

I like your diary of how you feel about Fanstory . well told and I know what you are saying this is my 7th year on Fanstory.
Still sticking around even if I don't post that often.

I sent on a review on this post, twice. But because of site problems, neither went through.
I enjoyed your little documentary/timeline of what typically seems to transpire with a newbie. Plus I've been on a bunch if contests where the "dog owner" has won. It sucks! That's one of a few reasons I don't enter contests.
Well best of luck, John

Thanks for keeping on trying-third time gets it done! Yes, I'm with you on the prompts that allow a winner who ignores the rules. Thanks for reading and commenting, much appreciated, Dennis

So glad you liked it, Anita! My formula doesn't even work for me, so be careful out there. Thanks for your delightful review, Dennis

So funny, and sometimes the way one feels it is going. I seldom enter a prompt or a contest, mainly because I never think about them being there to do, guess I'm not overly competitive. Good piece. God loves you and I do too.

Thanks Janie, you're probably better off staying out of them. They can be frustrating.:) Thanks for commenting, Dennis

This is funny and well written... and so typical of how a newbie does things here, but we quickly learn that stars don't mean anything. Everyone gets fives and we all stay happy. But it DOES work in its own bizarre way.

"But it DOES work in its own bizarre way." Nicely put, you oughta be a writer...wait a minute, you are! :)
