Well, this is what I'm talking about. This is a real and moving piece. Although I don't agree with everything written in this piece I agree that it is a well written piece with a tad of what I call telling off lol. Jesus went about doing good He ate with sinners etc. but He had no problem telling someone off either ask the Pharisees lol. My Jesus even swung a mean whip and kicked people out the temple. Jesus was off da chain that's why I love Him, He is two sides of the coin. I personally can't cast any stones my brotha but this piece make you say ummmmmmm. I love the way you write, write on:)

Hi there Saucey,
I totally know that everyone has a version of their beliefs, and that's what I love, diversity... but singling minorities out and telling them their not allow to play in this playground, well that where I draw the line in the sand.
I'm not a church going man, but in know way does that mean I don't believe, or that I don't have faith... everyone needs a moral code to live by, hell, it's what saved me from traveling down a road misadventure and sin, but I believe the desire has to come from within one's self, that's where the truth lies.
And I think I like your version of Jesus, you have to have that tad of mongrel in you when needed, but intent is everything, and that's why I'll keep trying to fight the good fight... just to try and make sense out of where I was born, and what I was meant to do with what I learned, from the dark I held in my life for so long.
Thank you so much for honest and I think, a restrained review, I do love honesty, and I know you have that by the bucket loads... so know you are appreciated a whole lot!
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

Man looks at the outward appearance God looks at the heart

You're a free thinker perhaps but that doesn't allow you to take what you want and ignore the rest as in the case of Jesus. You seem to be unaware or willing to ignore that He condemned sin in every way while pointing to the need of a new spiritual birth based on faith in Him and His words. He warned of Hell while holding open the door of salvation to all.
So you admire Him;have you really honestly heard His whole message? The Gospel of John would be a good place to start.

Hi Deniz,
interpretations of what we and don't believe in, do still have to travel from within... but my interpretation of your review, seems to still paint homosexuals as sinners? Do you really think they need salvation? And if so, I love for you to keep this dialog continuing by you writing an essay on your thoughts of this particular topic... what do you actually feel, no not what someone else tells you to feel, what do you feel?
It is my hope that a lot more people join in and keep this topic alive... there's nothing wrong in having different opinions, in fact, I encourage that to happen, so jump on that keyboard and get to typing.
And I will definitely take your good advice and read the message that John is responsible for.
I thank you for this review and fine rating, with sincerity.
Be well and take care, and hope to see you in print very soon.
Kindest thoughts,
James

Hi, I wrote a piece on the subject a bit ago, will try to find it and pass it on. It may surprise you.
I don't agree with your premise about truth coming from within. If the Bible says anything it claims the distinction of being a complete and inerrant revelation of God and His agenda for this world.
Paul asks the rhetorical question in 1 Corinthians: "Who knows what a man is thinking unless the man speaks?" So to with God. I'm ready to sink or swim with the truth of the scriptures having failed to find any true wisdom in myself.
Have a happy Thanksgiving, Dennis

Thanks Dennis,
I would love to read that piece. my friend, I do believe we've all got to find our way somehow, and I respect your way, no doubt about that.
A very happy Thanksgiving to you too my brother.

This is a powerful and excellent piece of work, James. I enjoyed reading and question myself, every minute of it. Indeed there are many people who still are against gay marriage; some may be because of the way they were raised or religious matters, but others unfortunately is the way they perceive things. People will always observe and act in the wrong way regardless of facts or love shown. Everyone knows that abandon animals or rape is wrong, still many do it and don't see any problem with it. You are so right when you say that there are so many wars and serious problems around us still many still rather concentrate in internal issues. Surely one should never feel guilty or ashamed of his own feelings and choices, why should he/she? Maybe in a few years more people will accept gay marriage as much as they accept the marriage between a woman and a man; the end of slavery took generations to be accepted, even though in practice was already a reality.

Hi Angel,
I think ideas and ideals are firmly ingrained into our society... and then you have the swing vote and the fence sitters... when it really comes down to it, there are much bigger fish to fry... so it always me a bit of a conspiracy theorist, as to why we as a evolving world-wide community sweat the small stuff... who's actually firing the flames of discontent, and why?
Thank you so much for such a wonderful and truly amazing review, I hope more writers keep this topic going, as I for one would love to see it bandied around with different points of view.
You are truly a special woman, Tania.

Bravo James. Well said and so true. The 'powers that be' will always divide and conquer. If you look deep enough, when they throw these debates into the public domain, you will always find some scam that the goverment is trying to push through.
They need a smokescreen so they throw in a contentious issue to muddy the waters. Their scam will cause the poor/working class some real hardship but we will be blindsided by something that should never have been an issue in the first place.
Opinions, like assholes, are something we all have. It doesn't mean mine is right and yours isn't. Wake up and smell the bullshit people because they are piling it on.
You should be able to love who you want. :) Jaq xx

Hi Jaq,
so happy to see you name back on my screen. How have you been?
And how is your wrist after the break?
You have been a constant on my thoughts.
Thank you so much for this wonderful surprise, it is truly appreciated... and it's so great to hear your say it as you see it attitude... like a breath of fresh air.
We know it, but yet it's easy to label someone a conspiracy theorist... and life remains the same!
I hope you know how happy this made me feel to not only see your name and know your still here, but to receive such an amazing review... thank you sweet lady.

Hey there, glad you approve of ther way I see things. 'Say it like it is' sometines you have to throw the sugar-coating in the bin.
Still in pain, it was my left humerus I broke. I am on morphine for the pain and it is apparently a very bad break and not healing as quick as they would like. Hey ho James there is a workd of people out there worse off. Hooe you and the good lady are well xxx

I thought that your heart was in the right place with this piece and that you have a good message at the base of this, but I still felt the flow of the work was a bit jarring because it feels sporadic, like you're ranting. I understand this is an opinion piece, but I personally prefer more structure when delivering an idea as important as the one you're conveying in this piece. It's a personal thing though, and there's no spag so great work overall here, thanks for sharing.

Hi Jack,
thank you for your interesting review.
I am in my infancy when it comes to writing, and I know I have a lot to learn about structure and such. But if nothing else, I do write what's in my heart, and I think at least that side came across.
I do appreciate your comments, and hopefully I will continue to evolve.

No problem, James. None of us here are pros, so, don't worry about it too much. I generally write opinion pieces as essays, like my essays the Gods of the Gaps or Falling Out(a challenge winner) unless I'm writing a rant like my piece Would You Like Cheese With That? I know I'm young(23) but writing has been a lifelong hobby of mine so I've been doin' it for a while, though I'm still an amateur. Again, I enjoyed the piece because it shows that you write from your heart, which is why I thought you still deserved five stars. Great work once again, later daze :D

In the book "Gulliver's Travels" Jonathan Swift wrote about the Lilliputians quarreling over which end of the egg to open just to show that people with nothing else to fight about will go out of their way to find something no matter how big or small. That's the real reason for the arguments over everything from Same-Sex Marriage (or as I call it...Marriage) to the price of sports tickets.

What a clearly written, passionate stand for truth and liberty, the right of all men to (not bear arms but love unconditionally!!!) It is GOD'S place to judge, not man's - we need to remember to remove the LOG in our OWN eyes before we try the speck in the eyes of another!!!
OUTSTANDING WRITE, AND NOT BECAUSE I AGREE SO WHOLEHEARTEDLY WITH THE MESSAGE, JAMES, BUT BECAUSE IT IS WRITTEN SO SUPERBLY - easy-to-follow, without condescending AND you covered the fact that you did not include back-up quotes beautifully! (Very true - there are so many opinions written, one could find a quote to back up almost anything.)
BRILLIANT!

If it was a voting situation, I would vote against same sex marriages. Your post offers a good argument, but it doesn't give any new arguments.

Hi Mr Lucas,
this is what I was hoping for, writers to jump on in and offer their point of view, so I'd love to read your new argument for why you would vote against same-sex marriages... and I am sincere.
Thank you for your review, it is very appreciated.

A brilliant piece you've written there, James.
love your use of rhetorical question here:
"Could same-sex marriage really cause the end of the world?"
It really makes the reader ponder. very, very effective.
"Love, compassion and tolerance, are the only thing that will save us all from the steady downward trends that encourage divide, hate and disrespect"
words of wisdom you're telling us there, James.
" different opinions and healthy debate"
those words remind me of something. I have a friend who's a lesbian and she's dating a girl who loves her a lot, but whenever they go outside and have fun..some people just stare at them. I mean, to me, that's just plain childish.
What's the point of critisizing those who want love? We all want it.
hugs

Hi Amanda,
firstly, thank you so much for the most wonderful review and rating... and I am so happy to see of your maturity about the experience with a friend feeling on the outside through nothing more than sexual preference... yes childish and ignorant... but it sometimes is a way that people get to feel somehow more superior or normal in themselves through mocking others. Or is it a lack of confidence in their own sexuality? mmmmmm, I wonder?
Take care and read you soon.
Kindest thoughts,
James xx

I appreciate your exploration of this topic. There are so many mixed messages out there that people are quite confused where they stand on the issue. It takes time for social values to evolve. Your article gives readers a variety of perspectives to explore, and that can only be good for the public dates.
