You stated your point very clearly. It's good that you added the information on DNA and actual articles showing that it was more than just opinion. The information of the origin of the word Caucasian is ludicrous. What a supremacist.
We do need to get our heads on straight. This racial thing is so last century.
:)

I do agree with you that racial bias is "so last century."
There is absolutely no need for racial classifications, it only leads to oppression of certain ethnic groups.
I am very pleased that you found the piece both informative and worth the read.

Very interesting studies you cited. I just watched "Journey of Mankind." It was a documentary about a scientist who traveled all over the world looking for indigenous populations. There he would take DNA samples in order to prove a theory. I think it was that rather than cultures, skin colors and beliefs being born in certain areas of the world, that early people traveled for instance from I think it was Mexico, to South America, through India to Australia. I never got to finish it, but with the DNA tests in, it showed that all of the eldest members of these groups of people shared common DNA. It was an amazing film. I have always hated all this garbage about skin color. It's ridiculous. We are all part of the global family..
I think it would indeed be impossible to pinpoint where or when it began..wouldn't even want to try..
Very thought provoking, inspirational piece.

You are so right when you say we are all part of the global family. It is time that we embraced each other as equals and dispensed with the nonsense of classifying people by the color of their skin.
Thank you for your most interesting review. I really enjoyed your comments.

This is a powerful message you give here. I agree with you, "The world is still such an abysmal place when it comes to human rights."
They say we have freedom of rights been when you really think about...hmmmm

Rights and freedom to exercise them depends entirely on which part of the social strata one comes from. As long as elitism exists there will never be equality among the races.
Thank you so much for your review, I greatly appreciate it.

You've said a mouthful there and it's not only in your country it's particularly insidious in America where people with power and pseudo-power continue to oppress the less fortunate every day. Powerfully written and there is nothing I would change about this sincere piece.
I do believe "the pen is mightier than the sword."

Thank you so much for your most thoughtful and supportive review. I'm pleased that you found the piece a good read.
I agree that power is the root cause of oppression, but I also believe that skin color is the most recognizable source for discrimination. How many white people do you know that get pulled over by the police for no reason other than their color.
We as humans have so many ways to justify the oppression of others. Being poor and disenfranchised is also a means for being kept out of the mainstream of society and this is purely a matter of socioeconomics.
Again, I sincerely thank you for your review and especially your comments.

powerful, thought-provoking and inspiring quotations to end your thoughtful and informative essay
You make a significant point and you make it logically and persuasively with good documentation as opposed to some of the less-than-thought out rants that appear on this site. Brooke

Thanks for the history lesson a found within the excellent essay that you presented here. It is rich in knowledge and information! The ignorance and arrogance that you speak of in this write have made many feel comfotable in their powerful hold over others of a lesser color. It is rather silly how this began and continues to be a subject of contraversy after centuries of progress, tolerance, and wars, we still cannot accept our fellowman.

An excellent essay, very well written ,structured and also thought provoking. . Whilst I accept your analysis and agree with your disgust at the iniquitousness of racial bias, I also think inequality, class status and abuse of power are the main ingredients of injustice in this world.
"How much horror, persecution, oppression and out-and-out genocide has been committed by those who would deem themselves superior based on the fact that they were/are of white Anglo-Saxon descent."
You could also pose the question: "How much horror, persecution, oppression and out-and-out genocide has been committed by those who would deem themselves superior based on the fact that they are wealthier, more powerful , more "equal ", or more Aryan than others.
German pacifist and anti-war activist, Martin Niemoller, once stated:
"When Hitler attacked the Jews, I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned. Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church-and there was nobody left to be concerned".
We should all be concerned when an injustice raises its ugly head.

I thank you for your most thoughtful review and agree with you that those with power and status do tend to hold themselves up as being more worthy and therefore superior to those in the lower strata of society.
I am very familiar with the words of Martin Niemoller and they are a forewarning to us of what can happen if we are apathetic to the injustice happening all around us.

I think that stems from the dawn of man. Will we ever get rid of it? Probably not. Interesting story that is well written and well delivered.

We can reach back in our ancient history in order to use our primal and tribal past to explain the reasons for prejudice, but it is not something that should be used to negate our reasons for prejudice and bigotry today. It is very easy to dismiss an issue rather than set about trying to change it.
If we say nothing, do nothing, then no progress will ever be made.
Thank you for taking time to read and review this piece.

There are many who seek our help in this area Marisa and who desperately need it too. We must take the initiative and do our part where we can.

I so agree with you that we need to take the initiative whenever possible to help those who seek our help. To me, that is what this country is all about.
Thank you for your review and thoughts on this piece. I greatly appreciate both.

Oh, you must have used all the six stars, as I was going to give you one, and.....yes.....they are all gone. This is a wonderful commentary, and I admire your words of wisdom regarding racism and personal differences. I know people like this, who do not want to play golf on a course where black people are allowed to play. One day these people may find someone very different from them will turn out to be one of their dearest friends.
Congratulations on a wonderful write. Joan

Joan,
You are so right when you say that one might find someone very different from themselves to be a dear friend. If our minds and hearts are open we can find friends in all shapes, sizes, colors and diversities. How very dull this world would be if we only dwelled among those who were carbon copies of us. How truly awful that would be.
Thank you so much for your kind and supportive review, I greatly appreciate your feedback.
