Love this! What a vivid picture is painted while reading. I can totally relate to the frustration of staring at a blank page with thoughts racing through your head, however, I sense a deeper meaning in this verse. Wonderful job.

I appologize for not understanding this piece you have written I can feel the energy in some of the wording. I am just a rhyming writer but that does not prevent me from wanting to learn.

Poetry is really a subjective form of art. The writer knows what he/she is saying, however perceiving it is up to the reader. If you don't understand it, that's okay! This lil poem merely means how bad it can feel when one wants to write, but can't. And there is no such thing as "just a rhyming writer". I started off being a die-hard rhymer, but eventually got into the joy of free verse. I still love rhyme tho. I think of a poet can capture the emotion and deliver it in a rhyming poem, then that is a wondrous thing. Adewpearl is one who can do that in my humble view. And you will only learn by asking. If you want to know what a poem is about, ask. If the writer is offended, then they need to take a reality check. Enough said! Thanks very much for your comments xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

A little deep for me but I cannot take away anything from your talent. It is obvious that you are a gifted writer and I loved some of your wording, like 'white fingers on ridged knees,' or 'tears uncried rain within.' Just lovely but still I couldn't connect with everything you wrote; I feel the fault lies within me. I am just an old country woman with tunnel vision:) Good luck, Kathryn

If a poem reaches a person, it has done its work. If not, then the poem has not done its work for that person. Worry not ... poetry is perceived by readers and will not connect with all of them. By the way ... if you're not much older than 50, then you and me are BOTH old country women hahaha! Thanks very much Kathryn; enjoyed your comments xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Wow great poem, it is not only a great read, but also inspiring to want to write at this caliber. "solace teases" is great. Your careful word choices are very well thought out and work great to create a wonderful image when I read it.

I read your bio before I read the poem and it made me wonder if this came from your divorce...I liked the phrase "rain from grief", which could also be reign.
The reason I ask about the divorce is bc when I read the poem it is how I related to it, recently divorced, there seems to be so many things you cannot or never will say. I just grieve for the loss, the same with death. Jusr wondering. Beautiful poem

Well, no this poem didn't come from my divorce, but rather from being "divorced" from putting words on paper! However, any poetry is subjective, and your take on it is entirely acceptable to me this fine day :) Marriage is an institution in its own way, in my opinion now, and really something that needs to be avoided at all costs. But yes, there is always grief fo the loss; it's like a death on its own. And now, as you'd relate to all too well, it is like rain from grief due to that loss. That's life and love though, isn't it? Thankyou Sabina, for this very fine and perceptive (and subjective) review. Let's get on with life as best we can and hope that that open window brings in a fresh breeze of promise for us :))

Good Lord, my Princess Xine!
What a truly exquisite write! Reminds me so much of the great masters of poetry past. (Shakespeare, Byron, Plath, etc.) What a majestic and fine work! Oh, how honored I am to read your work again.

Brava!

Lubya to pieces, Xissie!

Cherub ~

alpacalady,

'A Wordless Age' definitely engages the emotions of lost hope and despair. Free verse, centered format, and short lines are well suited to the message which presents strong imagery. This is a nicely written poem I would recommend to other readerss.

You aren't rusty, my girl. This is filled with such feeling. Extremely well written free verse of an empty soul searching for the right words to say or write and tormented in that search. Powerful phrases in this poem, Chris. 'A mind so tortured by a virgin page', 'tears uncried rain within grief untold', and the power of the first and final line with 'wordless age.' Brilliant emotionally packed poem. Good to see you found at least these words for that virgin page. Joycexxx

The words unspoken, the ones without voice left between the pretense of the written are the ones to be feared and encouraged. Very good post, Chris.
