All things that happen to us make us who we are. Most of us do the best we can, and keeping doing the best we can every day. We try to be present and participate, we dust ourselves off when we goof. You wrote well and summed up a well lived life. Karen

Did you meet me on the dance floor, 'cause I goofed up every step there too. Thank you for such a great reply. I appreciate it.

When a guy asked me to dance, no matter how bad he was I tried to last out the song. But one guy stepped on my feet so much I had to quit or be maimed for life. Was that you?
    Sorry. Karen

Wasn't that because your hands kept touching the wrong places. I was trying to fight you off.

Wasn't that because your hands kept touching the wrong places. I was trying to defend my honor. Or was that all a dream?

    Dreams are nice.

Mine aren't dreams, usually they are downright lies.

Dreams are lies we entertain ourselves with when we sleep.

What a fantastic review. Thank you so much. My poor wife will have to put up with an inflated ego for days. Luckily, she now knows how to control me. A spade across the back of my head.

The aspiration expressed here is indeed a noble one. having lived a noble and honorable life and grappled with life's problems the poet is content to now 'Leave things be.' It is enlightening to read about people who are content with what they've done.

No point in being any other way, complaining changes nothing. Thank you for the great review.

The rhyming is not strained here. It flows very nicely. I like to repeat in my poems as well. I loved how you did it. It must be nice to be content with life. Thank you for sharing.

I really enjoyed reading this poem although I thought some of the lines were a bit long and could be edited but that's just my opinion. I also am quite content with my life and just want to leave things be. Take care. Jen.

This radiates a sense of contentment and gratitude, capturing the beauty of appreciating life exactly as it is. The steady rhythm and conversational tone make it feel both personal and universally relatable, as if you are confiding in the reader with a warm sense of wisdom.

The reflections on past experiences, relationships, and personal history are woven together seamlessly, creating a tapestry of a life well-lived. There's an authenticity in the way nostalgia and joy coexist, making the message even more powerful. The repeated refrain reinforces the deep satisfaction and peaceful acceptance that underpin the piece, leaving a comforting sense of harmony.

I totally agree! Happy in my own skin, my own environment, and with my own thoughts. It seems we are rare birds these days. Lucky, too, to have such a wonderful country to live in.

I agree with your thoughts on this poem very much. It carries a very powerful message. Sometimes we want to change things and sometimes we just need to let things be. I am getting to that age where I just want things to be as they are and I hang out with my my memories. Patricia.

I guess I can't blame you, but I don't believe you're just average, in God's eyes everyone is a special gemstone from His collection of Desired possessions, you've written a most informative poem about an average Joe. Well done Bob, an excellent post, blessings Roy

I thought as a lad from Liverpool you would have ripped into me for plagiarizing such a great Beatles song. Let It Be. Actually originally that was this poem's title. I thought that might attract criticism. Thanks for another kind review.

Nah, I'm amazed you remembered I was a Liverpool scouser.

I do understand. I am very content with my life as it is. If I had to change one thing, I would move my children and their families closer to me. That is honestly the only thing I'd ever want different. Thank you for sharing.
