When Ben Paul prays, his answers come with 100% certainty:-)
Sometimes I forget that the year is early 1900s, but scenes like the one with the bad telephone reception reminds me.
And politicians ... they don't change at all.
I'm stepping away from FanStory for a few weeks, but will get back to read book chapters so I don't lose track of the stories.
Have a great start to the new year, Wayne.

Thank you.
(We're in 1973 here)
Wishing you the best.

Ben Paul is very quick thinking, despite his age, and very in tune with the Holy Spirit, and God's will.

Edit: "What's that noise, Sylvia asked after only a single bite of her baloney sandwich. (close quotation marks after "noise". Also needs a question mark after "noise").

Thank you for your great review!
I appreciate the catches.

There's not much chance that Sylvia or anyone else can ever keep Ben Paul under control and keep him doing what anyone else thinks is right or wrong. Men like him have their own metered scale of balance: good and bad, equality, justice, and harmony.
Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to be out of sixes. This chapter told a lot about Ben's inner feelings and intentions and how wise he is in the ways of man. It will be interesting to see the fulfillment of Ben's plans soon.

I like the way this particular mission came about. Ben Paul is just like his father in this respect: He sees the need for something, and he acts on it. He doesn't just wait for things to happen but takes an active role in making sure that they do.
I loved the cynical view Ben Paul and Sylvia have of some of these institutions: "First thing would be to discover who the permitting authority is. Understand, though, that their primary job is to say "no", to deny every request. Their second job is to collect as much money as they possibly can."
Including also Pastor Renner: "Oh yes. And the less genuine his interest, the more he'll give... to appease his guilt."
Good chapter.

Thank you.
I felt I had to present some credibility - not all preacher's kids turn out well. Some fall away, some follow, but not really. And some ministries fade away. (Tony's church)

When Ben Paul talks to God and gets a plan, he really goes after it. It is amazing what passion can do and so can God, if the man has the right references, and Ben Paul certainly does. Sylvia is a very understanding wife.

Thank you.
I don't know if you read the start of this, but Sylvia's grandmother was Ben Persons' first love (Livvy).
Wishing you a Happy New Year!
And thank you immensely for the six stars!

Yes, I do remember that.

This was hilarious, Wayne! I kept chuckling throughout from the preference to deal with TWO problems and the creative way to deal with bureaucracy. Loved the many different postures of prayer, too! Virtual six!

Thank you!
I wanted to talk about unconventional prayer, about how to actually accomplish what is sometimes physically difficult, and to allow people the freedom to relax or get tongue-tied, or to lose track of a human thought. Also to value memorized scripture.
I pray you have a blessed new year.

Yes, I agree about memorizing Scripture. I don't do it enough but it's sure handy when I remember one. And in Moms In Prayer, we always pray a Scripture verse for our kids and grandkids.

Wayne,
This is a good story. Every where those two go they are solving problems. I guess the power of prayer works all the time. They simply can't lose.
Well done

I really enjoyed this chapter! The humor Ben Paul's character really shined through, especially in his interactions with the clerk and the mayor. The dialogue felt real. I found myself smiling at some of the back and forth.
I'm looking forward to seeing how things unfold next! Keep up the great work!
