Brilliant use of personification! I liked even your choice of verb as the "pecks away at me" gives that clear feeling that the idleness is making the narrator feel guilty. Congratulations on your second place win!!

LOL. This is a cute contest entry. One of my sons, Andrew, use to procrastinate with his schoolwork. He always got it done but would wait until the last minute. That upset me. His comment to me, "Mom, you know I'm going to do it, so why let it bother you?" Thank you for sharing then entry with us. Good luck with the contest.

Sometimes being idle is very distressful for us and we feel like things are packing away at us when we are idle I wish you the very best of all of your writing. Patricia.

Made me think of a chicken...peck peck peck. If you sit to long in one place, it could happen. LOL You fit the requirements for the contest and I shall wish you luck.
