This is so good. It is really not my type of story, yet I am pulled in by this little girl. There are more everyday adventures for her I am sure. Have a good week. Karen

I'm glad Heddy told Nonni, it's always easier to share something that bothers you, and being a child, that is important. I'm wondering what the man's secret is. Being scared means it's something bad. Another excellent chapter, my friend! :))Sandra xxx

Well, he might be running from something. Heddy, being eleven probably doesn't know but a few emotions. I don't even know why he's there. I'm finding out with Heddy. Lol. Thanks for this. Gretchen

You do such a great job of describing the Island, the wind, and the smell, making an ol' beach bum surfer fill right at home. Thanks for another fine chapter.

Thanks so much, Ric. There is no smell like the ocean, that's for sure. Glad you enjoyed it. Gretchen

This is a nice little tale, full of all sorts of dreams and imaginations. You are doing well. I think you said Hedda is 11 or 12? Keep up the good work.

Gretchen,
I'm loving this story. I found it interesting that Nonni doesn't tell Heddy what to do. She's wise with a wisdom that comes from years of life on this earth, and even if she knows what the future might hold, she is letting Heddy learn for herself. Well done gal.
Have a blessed evening.

Heddy seems a wise little girl. Luckily, she has her Nonni to visit at the right time she needs her. I'm looking forward to more of her stories. Very well written.

This story continues to delight me. Heddy is such a unique child and is good at keeping secrets. Whether she should keep the frightened man's secret remains to be seen. I'm looking forward to the next installment. "Slow to answer the whys" probably shouldn't have the apostophe.

Wonderful insights into children's feelings and fears. Lovely relationship with Nonni. I'm curious to find out more about the man, sounds like he's a fugitive.

A lovely chapter in which Heddy is caught in her ambivalence between her spiritual relationship with Nonni and the less gratifying real world of home. Your story is evolving beautifully and intriguingly with evocative detail of the setting and a mystery yet to be unfolded. The reader feels safe in the knowledge that Heddy will be guided to some extent by Nonni in her quest for answers. Small edit - station(e)ry. Thanks for sharing, Gretchen. Debbie
