It is a light hearted ,still with serious intent ,post. Some of them made me smile. I think love letters are things of past because these days mobiles have taken that role...was fun to read.

I am old, therefore I have lots of love letters, and mushy cards. It is a shame people have traded privacy for convieniance. Karen

These are also good rules to live by. I especially found the story about Mr. Roebuck interesting. The one about having more house than you need can have a catch. We moved from a ten-room home to a 2-bed cottage when the kids were out of the house. Then we inherited four more kids.

Life said bigger house again. But my point is, we used to be more connected to people. This was because we did not actually live in the house, we lived outside the house. We came home to sleep. We played outside till dark, shared bedrooms, the kitchen was the biggest room in the house, and then the den. We visited and often stayed with others. We really shared our lives. Karen

Thank you for sharing these words to live by. I believe all of us can learn something as we read. Or at a minimum we will smile and agree. You are doing us a service by sharing these with us.

Great tips and rules to follow, especially the guy's part with the tighy whities. LOL! :) Good stuff here, my friend.
I wish more people would pay attention to the nose picking part. I see more and more people and co-workers doing this right in front of everyone. Gross! It's like they don't care.

Thanks for sharing!
Sincerely,
Shana :)

It reminds me of an old saying. You can pick your friends, you can pick your nose, but you can't pick your family.

More sterling advice that comes, I'm sure, from hard won wisdom born of pain and raised with considerable tolerance. ...........................

More of your very useful and entertaining rules of life. I love them and agree with most except eating BBQ/ribs and using deodorant. Never use the latter and have never, to my knowledge, had BO. As long as you wash regularly especially after exercise, it's much more environmentally friendly. Not to mention better for your health with all that powder and goo clogging up those precious lymph nodes under your arms and, arguably, increasing your chances of breast cancer. Lovely job, Karen! Debbie

You don't eat BBQ ribs? I might have to rethink our friendship! hahaha And my family are heavy sweaters, no jokes please. Not me, but my Mom and some of my sisters. Use of deodorant was drummed in my brain. Karen

Well, you've certainly offered up lots of good advice in all these "Rules for a Happy Life." But some of them aren't for old boys like me. I mean, I wouldn't worry too much about tracks in my drawers, since by the time we get them off, it's too late to turn back. I've never needed deodorant that I know of. I have allergies so badly that I can't smell anything most of the time. But lucky for others, I've always just worn it anyway. LOL. Great job. Wish I had a six.

I'd say there isn't much you aren't good at, besides, staying out of trouble. :-)

I get in plenty of trouble, I just find my way out pretty good. I talk a good story. Karen

I have to agree with your author notes. This was funny. Especially the tightie whitie reminder. The deodorant reminder was spot on. This would be a great 365 day a year calendar. Fun way to start your day. Gretchen

Good ones. Well written.
But needs must. - Terrible sentence structure, but I like it. Rules be hanged!
And bless you for allowing at least ;some; fried food!
Best wishes.

Please, fried chicken like bacon, should be its own food group. I knew that " But needs must." Was not totally correct, but it just fit the mood. Karen

This has to be advice on life, not rules because rules imply that they have to be followed. I live in a house with more bedrooms than I need, but it is my choice to do so. I found your other rules amusing Karen and I was entertained and I suppose no one will take any of this seriously as it is a light hearted post so I hope I am not a kill-joy here. I think you post is a lot of fun, love Dolly x

You are 100% correct I will change the name.
The name is way too heavy for what I want to convey. Thanks for speaking up about it. Your advice is always appreciated. Karen
