scongrove: Question. Do you think it's fair to rate someone low because it is not your genre? My opinion: If I enjoy reading something, I would never give a low rating just because it's not my typical genre.
Brett Matthew West: If the stated reason for the low rating are words to the effect "not my preferred genre," and no other explanation is provided, then, no, a low rating for that reason alone would not seem fair. -
karenina: No. It's not appropriate. Specifically, as that (brand new member) stated the rating was because it was not a genre he/she enjoys. ~and nothing at all about the quality of the work. -
Ideasaregems-Dawn: No. The site is (or was when I joined) specific about how to give a review, and personal preference has nothing to do with how something is rated. There is a skip button for a reason -- if something isn't to your taste, move on without reviewing it. -
strandregs: No reason to pussy foot
The mentioned assailant should be put on the spot and understand their ways are wicked.

scongrove: Wishing everyone a safe & happy holiday! May you be blessed with good health & inspiration for your writing.

scongrove: If you are not a fan of dark fantasy, paranormal romance, supernatural with some horror... my stories may not be for you. I love advice and I can take criticism, but please be positive and kind with your words. If you flat out don't like the story, please move on. Most readers here are very kind and positive. Some have really helped my writing skills, and I thank you for that.
nor84: No one is supposed to review with a comment or argument that says "I didn't like it." If you are being given a low rating without explanation, I would suggest reporting the incident to site administration. Reviews are supposed to be based on errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, i.e., errors in the presentation, not just because someone doesn't like the type of story, or has a different opinion about the topic and rates low because of it. We are supposed to be helping others find their mistakes to improve their craft, not attacking them. -
    AJ McCall: Agreed. -

scongrove: I would like to take the time to thank everyone that has supported me here on FanStory. Your dedication, helpful advice, and kindness always makes the difference. YOU give me the confidence and motivation to keep on writing my story. I will always be grateful for all of you. I started here on this website with a story stuck in my head. I didn't know the first thing about writing when I began sharing my story here in 2014. I've definitely never took writing classes, and still do not. I learn from YOU. My background is in art. Although I have to admit, I lost my drive to create artwork on paper a long time ago, but I find that this is just another form. My reward is to entertain readers with my adventures of the Breedline. Thanks so much for your time and friendship.

Big hugs to all!
Sincerely,
Shana :)
justafan: Your love of this series shines throughout. I love it and can't wait to read more!!

scongrove: A special thank you to everyone that is giving me wonderful feedback for my fifth series of the Novel of the Breedline. It's still a working progress, but every bit of your advice makes the difference. Bless you all!

scongrove: Hello everyone on FanStory! I have a question to anyone who reads this. I would love your response. I notice not many seem to enjoy reading Fantasy or Supernatural. My books have that and so much more. Drama, mystery, adventure, thriller, romance, and a little horror. I see that some take a look, even though it's not their usual genre, and they find they enjoy the chapter. Do you think I would get more readers if my genre was romance or thriller instead of fantasy or supernatural? Just a thought.
Thanks for reading!
nor84: It's not usually easy to be good in all genres. I write about WWII, but there's action and romance. I've had people say they don't like war stories who became fans.

I am basically a thriller writer, or that's what an editor suggested I write. I don't think I could write an entire 'sweet' romance or a great horror novel, although I have written short pieces of both.

    -
nor84: My suggestion is write what you like. Write to please yourself, not for reviews. They mean nothing outside Fanstory. If you want more reviews, you can promote your material, although some of the reviews may not be particularly useful. -
scongrove: Thank you, nor84! I appreciate your response and I will definitely take your advice. I love to learn from others here on this site. This is how I can improve my writing. Knowledge is power.
    -
rwilliam: I switch it up. Sometimes it's fantasy, fiction, etc. People who already follow you will still get your chapters but you might pick up more readers if you change it up now and then. You could do romance, drama, horror, etc. -
Randa Dayle: I like to read good writing, and yours is. I think you have your heart and passion in your stories and I would hate to see you give that up. -
fm wright: Like it just the way it is. Don't change a thing. -

scongrove: I want to thank everyone that has graciously been following and supporting my Novels of the Breedline series. I am excited to share the fourth series, Sins of Chaos. I appreciate your advice and feedback. YOU help me create a better story. XOXO, Shana :)

scongrove: I am very grateful for everyone who has given me advice on FanStory. I have definitely appreciated all the help and hope to keep improving my writing skills. Thank you for your patience and kind words. Positive feedback does make a difference and builds confidence. Although unnecessary negativity can tear a person down. Please remember we are all human and make mistakes. Some of catch on quick while others need more time. We are all unique in our own way. :)
Lakieshae: Truly spoken, beautiful words.... No matter the circumstances you can always try the kind way. -

scongrove: I just want to give a shout out to everyone on fanstory that has motivated me to keep writing my story. Your positive and encouraging words means the world to me. Thank you!
Shana :)
Selina Stambi: Keep writing, Shana, never stop. :) -
Dean Kuch: Never give up, never give in, never compromise, and write EVERY DAY, scongrove.
If you can do those things, you will find success...or success just might find you.

rwilliam: You are a gifted and talented writer. Success has already come a knockin'. Fasten your seat belt because more is on the way. :-D -

A big thanks to everyone for taking the time to read my Breedline adventures. I've enjoyed sharing my series with you. I've had wonderful and helpful feedback. FanStory has been, and continues to be, an amazing learning tool for me. I continue to grow as a writer with each book.
All four series of the Novels of the Breedline are available on my website at shanacongrove.com, Amazon, Barns and Noble, or wherever books are sold online.
I hope you enjoy my story as much as I do creating them.

Big hugs,
Shana :)

5-7-5 An Introspection In Seventeen Syllables Moments I Have Lived
I have found it rather amazing that an existence of time can be expressed in such few words and yet provide a specific and definitive explanation.

Great reviews:
Raw with emotion - love and pain, regrets and hope, truth and tragedy. It touched me at points, made me choke up.
