I like your poem- and identify as a battered child of an alcoholic father- poem says that most children are loved- true considering that the meaning of love is not the same for all- poem has a good flow and picture presentation- Thanks for writing this -Good job-AP

Hi Gypsy, thank you for sharing this important message. Yes, many children go to bed hungry and wake up hungrier. These homes are also filled with violence, and teachers/people wonder why these children cannot excel in school? How can they excel when just the night before the house was filled with police trying to to quiet an argument between the adults who may or may not be their mother and/or father?! Thankfully, schools have begun to serve breakfast. Gypsy, there is no way that college can prepare a teacher for such classroom circumstances. This is a growing problem, and there is no simple solution. Thank you for sharing. Well done. Xo. M

Barbara is a retired teacher. She told me she had to do home visits and the home situation was so bad she went to her home crying. She bought coats, shoes, and other necessities for her students. Teaching sould be one of the best paid jobs and teachers should be appreciated and honored. I taught business classes to adults with employment barriers. It was the best job I had.

Another fine poem, Gypsy----and one that rings so true in so many children's lives,, sadly. We adults are capable of such appallingly self centered behavior

While I was teaching, I often made home visits. There were times, I went to my home afterward and cried. I wouldn't allow my pets to live like that, let alone children. So often the only meals the kids got were the ones the school provided. I provided children with coats, food, and clothes. Thank you for sharing this need with us.

Barbara, thank you for being such a great teacher. I heard of other teachers helping the children too. Our society should pay teachers more, is one of the most important jobs in the world. I taught disadvantaged adults business classes and how to get a job. It was my favorite job. I wouldn't be able to teach children and witness what you had. You are very strong and kind.

That's so awful. And that's why during the pandemic lockdowns, children were in more jeopardy of going hungry because many low income kids depend on school meals for food. Thanks for reminding us of the needs of these kids.

Thank you very much big sister. I worked for child abuse prevention for a while. It was mostly educating Hispanic parents. I couldn't take it very long. It's very hard work. There's nothing worse than abuse and sometimes kill children, specially by parents.
Love,
Marival ❤️

That must have been so stressful. You can't leave that kind of work at the office. It stays on your mind and heart.

So deep, so melancholic, so dark and yet sadly true.
Today there is far too much pretence in this world. On social media in particular, people displaying their supposed "perfect" lives, meanwhile shedding dark tears internally.
Thankyou Gypsy for highlighting the fact that there is a dark side to life. Jacqueline
