Marvelous! The under dog )bird) strikes back and wins a round for all the turkeys in the world. LOL Loved the humor but then I always root for the underdog....

"Tough Turkey" is an enjoyable, humorous short story. Self-deprecation is high on the list of effective ways to tell a funny story. You did not say if this was a true narrative, but it reads as a plausible tale. Thank you for sharing.

Thomas

Lol. No, I could never chop off the head of something I raised if I was planning on eating it or not. Haha. Thank you for the great review and giant sixer, Thomas. I just wanted to go with something different for a Thanksgiving post and when I came across this hilarious pic I just had to use it. I really appreciate the huge rating, friend. Thank you again.

This is a fun Turkey poem that jumps in the bed and wrinkles up the sheets. I like the image, it is kind of fresh, a bit down and dirtier than the images most people use. You stitched in plenty of alliterations, and some wonderful rhymes and that made for some nice music. The tone of the voice is playful and the meter is upbeat, so I think the form makes for a good read

I can't help feeling pleased that the turkey won! Your fun poem is witty and humorous and I enjoyed your smooth rhyme and flow. Maybe to compensate for not eating turkey, you will win the contest. Lol. Best wishes.

Haha. I hope so. Thank you so much for the fantastic review, Wendy. Yes, I'm sure everyone was rooting for Tommy. Lol. Have a great rest of your weekend. I had to work Thanksgiving so we're doing our giant meal today. It's ham though. Haha. Thank you again, Wendy.

Ciao mystery poet, you now have 3 votes.
46 millions of turkeys ended up on the table this year.
A slaughter..
I honestly don't see people can celebrate without the Turkey.
It's a very beautiful bird in its own right.
Loved your poem and so glad Tommy made his point.

Perfect metre and rhyme and fine tale also. This Tom Turkey seemed to have other plans for what was going to be on the dinner plate for Thanksgiving.
This is really good, and I enjoyed it immensely. Best of luck in the booth. :))

Well, truth be told, I like Ramen soup (is it capitalized?) and now and then would prefer it to the long chew of turkey. This poem,"Tough Turkey," is a funny expansion of human encounters with the lesser beasts, so-called. One on one, this critters are every bit opponents as we exploit them. None of us could survive in a turkey pen, and any one of us might be fairly terrified of what a twenty-five pount tom turkey could do in his defense. This poem is an exceptional example of Oh Yeah? poetry.

Lol. Yes, I'm sure they'd put up a heck of a fight, especially a huge one. Haha. Thank you for the fantastic review and giant sixer, Frank. I'm not sure if ramen noodle is actually capitalized or not. I just went by the name on the pack and it is on there. Ha. I really appreciate the big rating, friend. I'm glad you liked this silly piece. Thank you again.

Dang it, I just gave my last six away! What a fun rhyming poem, and I was rooting for the turkey all the way!! If I had to take an axe to the poor bird instead of buying him at the store, I would be having Ramen soup right along with you:-)
Good luck in the contest - you have a great entry.

Thank you for the fantastic review and big six offer, Pam. There's no way I could axe anything I ever grew even if the plan was to eat it. I just couldn't do it. I really appreciate the generous stars and good luck wishes. I'm glad you liked this silliness. Have a great rest of your weekend.

I had to pause reading to laugh at the first two lines. Then...I had to pause to laught at the next two lines. And so it went. This poem is totally hilarious. I didn't want it to end, but when it did, I couldn't stop laughing at "Ramen Noodle soup." This sounds like a winner. Best wishes.

I love it! That turkey was no fool, he had a life to live and you weren't going to put him on your plate! Lol. You must understand how he feels, suppose it was the other way round, the turkeys had us for dinner!!!! LOL. Sorry, but I was on Tommy Turkey's side. This is such a fun poem and I wish you the best of luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx
